Um, you know this. Hardly anyone paid those. There were a bunch of dodges, including Subchapter S corps, that is when incorporating in Delaware really took off. The top talent didn't sit in their hands they do what they always do. Figure out a way to stymie your ceaseless appetite for their money.Martin Hash wrote:How is it that people even worked before Reagan, 70% tax rates, my god? And before 1966, 90%! Why would I?
Bust my ass to make money I have to give away, or relax and simply accrue money. Hmmm. Tough call.

Incorporating didn’t help per se. The most common “tax dodges” were hobby businesses; llama farming, vacation resorts, travel clubs; the kind of thing the person wouldn’t have done otherwise, only rather than the government getting it; exactly the kind of businesses I’m talking about.

Those are fairly modern as far as I know. But that is the type of thing you get when you design a revenue system to control behavior.Martin Hash wrote:Incorporating didn’t help per se. So what's the corollary for being filthy rich when your parents weren''t?Martin Hash wrote:Being filthy-rich isn't "aristocracy." Your children being filthy-rich, that's aristocracy.StCapps wrote:How does that prevent an aristocracy from being formed? Not seeing it, you can reduce the influence of the aristocracy, but you can't eliminate it altogether.Martin Hash wrote: Incentives will cause redistribution of wealth: Invisible Hand shit.
1) Pre-Reagan Progressive tax rates stop executives from taking big salaries.
2) Giving away a Billionaire's wealth at his death results in at least 1000 more Millionaires.
3) Monopolies have a difficult time forming because maintaining a majority with small stock holding percentages becomes difficult.
4) Giving a huge (100%) deduction for reinvesting money into businesses that employ people not only employs people, it also makes people of known competent management skills oversee them to protect his/her investment.
And what's the explanation for being born into wealth and losing it?

Neither of them know what an aristocracy is.DBTrek wrote:Economic data shows that those who inherit wealth generally don’t remain wealthy. Even of those who built extreme wealth, only a quarter can maintain it for the course of their own lives.
Don’t need a law to govern what is happening naturally.
They think it just means being rich.

Re: It's Happening.
The Aristocracy is the highest class in a given society. Even if everyone was apart of the same class, there would still be an aristocracy.
There is no such thing a classless society, you know who thinks that impossibility is actually achievable? Communists.
Fronting like an aristocracy is preventable and/or an aristocracy doesn't exist in America, both are ridiculous assertions.

Differences in income or wealth do not an aristocracy make.
Differences in income and wealth exist, and have existed, in every society ever. Not every society is aristocratic.
Aristocracies are hereditary systems where benefits are assigned based on family lines.
This is what an aristocracy looks like.

One. The eldest of the lords proprietors shall be palatine; and, upon the decease of the palatine, the eldest of the seven surviving proprietors shall always succeed him.
Five. At any time before the year one thousand seven hundred and one, any of the lords proprietors shall have power to relinquish, alienate, and dispose to any other person his proprietorship, and all the signiories, powers, and interest thereunto belonging, wholly anti entirely together, and not otherwise. But after the year one thousand seven hundred, those who are then lords proprietors shall not have power to alienate or make over their proprietorship, with the signiories and privileges thereunto belonging, or any part thereof, to any person whatsoever, otherwise than in section eighteen; but it shall all descend unto their heirs male, and for want of heirs male, it shall all descend on that landgrave or cazique of Carolina who is descended of the next heirs female of the proprietor; and, for want of such heirs, it shall descend on the next heir general; and, for want of such heirs, the remaining seven proprietors shall, upon the vacancy, choose a landgrave to succeed the deceased proprietors, who, being chosen by the majority of the seven surviving proprietors, he and his heirs. successively shall be proprietors, as fully to all intents and purposes as any of the rest.
Fourteen. Whosoever, by right of inheritance, shall come to be landgrave or cazique, shall take the name and arms of his predecessor in that dignity, to be from thenceforth the name and arms of his family and their posterity.
Twenty-three. All the children of leet-men shall be leet-men, and so to all generations.

USA Lags Peer Countries Mobility
The children of Socialist parents have more chance of breaking out than in Capitalist America. The apologists argue that absolute mobility (rising tide) is the same. We’re the ones creating Royalty.
