Hmm. Elisha must be happy about going to LA, ol' Dion was more than willing to wave the NTC for that.

Leafs win this trade, they dump Dion's contract on Ottawa, get Calvin Pickard and Eemeli Rasanen in trade, then Ottawa has to scramble to get out from under the contract, having to take Gaborik back to do it.

Atta boy, Lou.
Ottawa is such a shit show, taking on Gaborik just to dump Phaneuf's contract.
Please hockey gods, lets them keep this years draft pick, the Sens will shit the bed even harder next year when Karlsson demands to bail and they will have to trade him, and we end up with Jack Hughes when that pick wins the lottery. Now that would be fucking awesome.

Hard to believe they could be worse next year, but it's very plausible that they could be bad. If I was them I would just play the kids, but sometimes that ends up being a boost. Either way, pretty good chance it's gonna be a lottery pick, but I would take this years pick, just in case. Doubt they're going to give it tho.

Not that they will, but they should actively trade Karlsson, he's actually the problem, not just cause he's sucking right now, but going forward they can't afford him, and he's gonna age out, they should try to get maximum return on him while they can.

Oh did you hear? Seattle put their $10 million downpayment in for expansion in 2020, might save us from a lockout actually, can you imagine if Seattle pays $650 million, and the first season is a lockout? Anything's possible with the idiot NHL, but it's a faint hope.

Faint hope is better than no hope.

I can't see them blowing it all up, the same moment as Seattle is paying big bucks to be the next VGK, the expansion money greed could indeed trump their lockout, but at the same time, the NHLPA might try to use that to their advantage, it's really the PA which keeps blowing the league up, pointlessly, the players are the problem, not the owners.

Most of these teams do not actually make big money, the league is heavily subsidized by the Original Six, the players just don't seem to get that, they lock themselves out, when they fail to recognize that it is a tax write off for most of the owners outside the big hockey markets.

They don't have any leverage, they got locked out for a whole season, and the owners will do it again, that tells you all you need to know, the players will cave in the end, they're just wasting everybodies time, and their careers as they go.

The minimum salary is $500k, the average salary is $2.5 million, the maximum salary is 20% of the cap, and there are twice as many players in the league now, the idea that the players are hard done by, is absurd.

The players are so stupid, they're ready to get locked out over escrow, when escrow was what they agreed to in the CBA, they're good at hockey, but when it comes to business, they are dumb ass hicks.

They agreed to a 50-50 split, they said that was fair, then they see the escrow on their cheques to make it a 50-50 split, and suddenly they're like "hey, no fair", seriously, they're fuckin' morons.

At least the have more business sense than the IOC, but that's not saying much, pretty much everyone has more business sense than them.

the IOC is a bottomless pit of public welfare, the IOC rapes the taxpayers, so they don't actually need the NHL's money, they get their money from scamming governments, thus, the NHL doesn't really need the IOC, and the IOC doesn't really need the NHL, but so long as the NHL is not shutting down for the Olympics, who cares?

The Olympic hockey tournament is trash, but the NHL is on another channel, ergo, no problemo.

It wouldn't have been trash if the IOC had any business sense. They may not need the NHL, but they are leaving a lot of money on table, like dummies, just to play their silly game of chicken.
