People do.
Businesses don’t.

If Moore Furniture has an employee that publicly celebrates the next school shooting on Twitter they shouldn’t have to keep him on the payroll just because “he didn’t threaten to harm anyone or badmouth the company”.

Trying to write rules for when/how OTHERS can mete out consequences for acts that directly effect them is exactly how government overreach occurs.

Yes, a union might have saved James Damore’s job. And the Third Reich’s Final Solution might have saved all the victims of the Son of Sam killer, if it was only allowed to play out. Great insight HM.

Then he might have been able to send out emails with unpopular ideas, or stupid tweets, or whatever.

I don't think she should be fired for that tweet.
Then her tenure isn't a huge problem.

I am sure she is perfectly good at teaching about Almond husbandry, or whatever Fresno is on about. Probably just Almonds.

One retarded analogy deserves another. Don’t be mad just because I easily excel beyond the best game you’ve got.

I didn't bring up tenure and unions, but they don't 'inadvertently' protect peoples' jobs, terrible or not. That is sort of their whole deal.

I had a retarded analogy. You had a barely comprehensible non sequitur. Sad.

Well, she managed to get herself a Wikipedia page out of all this.
Jarrar studied creative writing at Sarah Lawrence College, receiving an MA in Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Texas at Austin, and an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Michigan. She has taught College Writing, Creative Writing, and Arab-American literature. "Fresno State's a majority minority school," she describes. Didn’t say they had inadvertent primary functions. Said they “inadvertently cause good results.”

A-herpa-derp-derp, counselor.

As in ... unions save the jobs of useless shitbags 99.9% of the time. But in your hypothetical alternative world where Google is unionized (which they never would be, seeking top tier talent), they might have saved James Damore’s job. Well, that was certainly a worthy and meaningful observation. In a world where frogs have wings ...

So here we are at a classic crossroads.

Unions are the archetype of "protective Gaia"... protect at the expense of competition.
Overprotective mom.

Union busters often swing to other pole... classic Mars/Mercury...
Sink or swim dad.

Probably we need some degree of protection for the exploitable masses in the worst of times...

But we need to ward off overprotectiveness that stifles personal responsibility and discourages excellence and achievement.

The question is where is the balance... is there any such thing as an "effective union" that acts as advocate but promotes personal responsibility?
I do not have the answer to that... never having been unionized myself.

Do we? Do we need meddling organizations demanding that non-productive and toxic workers retain their employment while China races up the economic ladder? Do we need any kind of “organization” dedicated to imposing additional hardships on our engines of commerce? Is that really necessary?
