You can't "repeal" the right to bear arms. The government never granted it. That right exists.
If the government tried to "repeal" it, we'd be in a state of civil war immediately.
Do you think the government has the power to also repeal the freedom of the press, the right to assembly, and so forth?
I think, in a democracy, the government has the powers granted it by the people. A fairly fundamental 'basis of America,' in fact.
Then, we enumerate or proscribe those powers in a constitution, and bing bang boom, constitutional democracy based in rule of law. USA! USA! USA!
But by the Declaration of Independence, the authority granted flows from God himself, which ultimately supersedes the constitution thereafter.
Creator > Life, Liberty and Pursuit of Happiness > Form of Government becomes destructive to those ends > Abolish
Well, I figure if God is unhappy with the fruits of his labors, he can do us like Sodom anytime he pleases. Until then, we just have to muddle through governing ourselves without much input from the Almighty.
HAIL!
Her needs America so they won't just take his shit away like in some pussy non gun totting countries can happen.

Smits has a way of setting it straight, regarding the Declaration, lads.
The British Crown was after all, a constitutional monarchy under parliamentary supremacy by democratic representation within the confines of the rule of law.

This has nothing to do with democracy. In fact, they wrote that explicitly in there to make it clear that democracy is constrained from ever violating these God-given rights.
A repeal of the second amendment -- I repeat -- is not only illegitimate but would be the opening of a civil war. You cannot justly take away our human rights. If you people somehow managed to just say to fuck with human rights altogether, then the rest of us are going to kill you. We have a duty as Americans to put down your tyrannical aspirations.
This isn't hyperbole. I am dead serious here. If this ever happened, we'd be at war.

Absolutely not. An attempt to "repeal" an inherent human right like that, especially the one that ensures self-government, is de facto civil war. You are a fucking deluded moron if you actually believe we won't fight over that. Dead serious: we will fight.
At the very least, I would submit, Prohibition by repeal of the Second Amendment would be similar to the effect of enacting the 18th amendment, in that it would instantly result in the criminalization of vast swaths of the American public and incite exponentially more chaos and lawlessness in the process.
To wit, Americans never got so drunk and rowdy as when getting drunk and rowdy was suddenly prohibited by federal overreach;
a nation of drunkards > a nation of drunken scofflaws.
Gun Grabbers, the Temperance Lady, same same, all temperance leads to hachetation in the end.

I wonder if it would be much worse than merely a civil war. The world peace is held together by stability in the US, the premier nuclear power. A civil war within the US would destabilize absolutely everything in geopolitics. Other nations would have no choice but to take sides at some level, and some nations would be tempted to get involved with assistance to one side or another. That could easily escalate to global war.
If you really, really want to immanentize the eschaton, this might be one way to go about it.
