Interesting note, two USAF RC-135W SIGINT birds departed RAF Mildenhall in within an hour today, one at 0655Z, the next at 0846Z, both have taken up orbit over Estonia along the Russian border.
March 12th Russia violated Estonian airspace, btw.

With Russia every aspect of what is happening on the border, are there planes violating the your air space or not, are the "problems" in Russian customs or at worst are their refugees pouring to your country from Russia etc., is directly about State relations between Russia and the country involved. Because if there is one thing the FSB does well (apart from influencing US elections perhaps), it's keeping the borders under control. Hence any refugee wondering from Russia into here without a visa into EU states is a decision made by Putin.

Other countries might take international agreements as guidelines, but for Russia it's a direct way to politically influence the country. So we here haven't had airspace violations for a long time now, so I guess Russia is confident that Finland isn't joining NATO anytime soon.

RC-135W is not a response to an airspace violation, the Russians have a Iskander-M regiment deployed to the field conducting exercises east of Palkino, north of Ostrov, south of Pskov, the Rivet Joint is orbiting just on the other side of the border.

No, but it just shows there's allways happening something here.

The strongest response Theresa May could do is to get countries to boycott the World Cup.
(Or the biggest fear of the tabloids is that May would get countries to boycott the World Cup)

That's still not high on steps leading to a nuclear exchange.

Nobody is going to boycott the World Cup for Brexit Theresa, the EU is not giving the UK shit right now, they want their fuckin' money, and until they get it, the British are adversaries for all intents and purposes, the EU is far more pissed off at the British than they are at the Russians.

Never said we were high on the Ladder of Escalation, I said we were at Stage 2. Altho, we've never been past Stage 14 (Large Compound Escalation), which was the Cuban Missile Crisis in response to the Berlin Crisis.

I'm still trying to wrap my mind around this Russian trolls thing...

I mean I had always assumed this was relatively minor... that it was being overblown... that it was a left wing obsession without much basis.

But what I'm hearing is that it is a thing... a thing that is still in full operation.

And even after the Florida shooting it was in full operation.

Which helps make some sense of the escalating insanity on the internet... from "crisis actors" onwards.

Russia is fanning the flames of the crazy...

It's like a conspiracy theory driving conspiracy theories.... mind blown.

The USSR fanned several conspiracy theories in their time:

It helps that Russia in recent years have been bolstering the budgets of "foreign outreach" programs, like RT, Sputnik News:

https://imrussia.org/en/politics/344-th ... -putin-era

In terms of people being influenced quantitavely and inititially, it is minor, but I think thanks to the internet mis-information travels just as fast as information. Just gotta reach the right people, who then re-tweet your message to millions. This gives propaganda efforts a slight advantage compared to earlier times. All in all, the only thing that's changed since the Cold War is we now have a medium that works more in Russia's favor - and Russia might be spending more on propaganda now than the Soviets did.

Meddling is the name of the game and has been so forever. Now the Russians are doing it to the US and suddenly it's foul play? It's just Trump derangement syndrome. The cognitive dissonance caused by Trump winning the election has to be explained away. That's the only thing this troll panic is about. The Democrats are just shooting themselves in the foot by focusing everything on Russia. They need to analyze why they lost for real and do something about it. Time is ticking.

From PM May's address to the commons on the nerve agent attack .....

Uk suspends high level contacts with Russia.
23 diplomats given one week to leave the country. (largest number in over 30 years)
Russia has been reported to the OPCW (Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons)
Efforts will be made to curtail Russian money laundering in the UK.
EU has declared full support for the UK and will be bringing up the matter at the next council.

No mention of cancelling R.T.'s license to broadcast or a boycott of the World Cup.

Do you think any other nation does this or is it just Russia? I wonder if private entities do this to promote products or ideas?

Of course they do...

How about this question:

How is Russia able to disrupt American politics using social media?

The answer is simple. Because the American government has lost the trust of the people via wars, Snowden, bank bail outs, obvious preferential treatment of the elite, etc.

If I met a stranger on the street that told me my dad is Hitler, I'd laugh at him. He tells me Hillary Clinton is taking bribes from foreign entities, is a war monger and maybe had someone killed and I'd at least have to consider if it were true for no other reason than the woman has zero credibility to dispute those accusations.

in other words, its our own fault. What you hear on RT is what far Left and Right folks have been talking about for a long time. All social media does is act as an amplifier.

Make no mistake though, everybody is doing this and if they aren't they are sleeping at the wheel. What do you think CTR was? A 100% troll farm.

It's gonna become more obvious as races in "Trump Country" don't match 2016 results. Hillary Clinton is the reason they lost.

I am sure they will attribute it to Trump but his numbers aren't that bad. HRC was just that awful of a candidate. She is a crook and Obama knew her numbers were overwhelming negative when he picked her as the replacement. He did it anyways for two reasons:

1. She would be easy to control.
2. Hubris.
