Intimidation can be illegal without making racial slurs illegal.
That’s the American approach.

''We hate the blacks'' is not so much a slur as a threat in that situation. I don't think she was complaining because she was offended.DBTrek wrote:Intimidation can be illegal without making racial slurs illegal.

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

I think the intimidation came more from being stuck in a small room with only a single door between yourself and a crowd of an unknown size yelling “we hate blacks” specifically at you.
If she walked past a girl in the hall, and the girl rolled her eyes and said “I hate blacks” I doubt she would feel intimidated. Mad, sure. But not in immediate danger.

A bit like you can't run over street protesters, but if they surround your car and start bang on the windows its gas on time?

Hatred is not threat. Hating someone, no matter the motivation, is not in itself a danger to your personal safety. It can become a danger if the "hater" starts either planning, calling for, or carrying out attacks against the object of hatred. But then the threat is that of a physical attack or the vocalized promise of attack, not simply the expression of hatred.Montegriffo wrote:''We hate the blacks'' is not so much a slur as a threat in that situation. If they want to kick those douche bags out of school for their horrendous behavior, by all means do so.
But locking people in cages for that is bullshit.
And don't tell me "it's just a fine". Speeding is "just a fine" and we have many people in jail for inability to pay.
Selling loose cigarettes doesn't carry the death penalty but a man was choked to death because he "resisted".
Laws carry the full violent force of that state to enforce.

Lot of qualified language there. Lets reverse things here. Two black guys standing outsode yelling We hate honkies or crakkahs outside a white girls room. Would that get the same treatment. Possibly. Now reverse the genders. Two women yelling We hate blacks outside a black man's door? No. Two black women yelling We hate whites outside a white man's door? Hell no.BjornP wrote:Hatred is not threat. It amuses me when Europeans pontificate on anti-hatred.

Let's say I'm a foreman on a construction site, two kids wander in... I tell them to get the fuck off the construction site because its dangerous, and if they don't I'll have them forcibly removed. Intimidating, right? Should that be illegal?
Antifa seems to like intimidation... Somehow a lot of people seem to approve of intimidation when it agrees with their own biases. Seems like if you're a "fucking white male" these days there's a lot of intimidation going on...
