Oregon: Pump Your Own Gas Crisis

I have heard that in NJ you can't pump your own gas and it's because so you can't just speed off and not pay at the pump.

I don't recall the last time I saw a pump anywhere where you didn't have to use a card or prepay inside. But then, I'm a coastal guy.

It's been 10 years since I saw one. They went away in '08.

Now I've just got a fucking annoying commercial machine blaring in my face everytime I pump gas. Infuriating.

We have them here. There is a booth that you drive by and pay sort of like how you pay for a fast food meal. They use cameras to deter thieves. It's usually cheaper because they don't have to pay for a walk-in building. It's just basically a little booth that somebody sits in with a drive-through window.

They are actually pretty nice. Gas is usually cheaper. Free air pump. 50 cent soda machines.

you just lift the handle, then pay inside after.

I remember running into those kind of pumps years ago but now a days, I just go to the ones with card pay in them. A few times I tried printing a receipt and/or having some trouble at those pumps. I would just go into the actual store and pay at the register and pump my damn gas. Although, I do know of places where you can't pump your gas until you have actually paid first. I think a lot of them have been phased out within the last 10 or so years.
