I don't understand how they can actually tell what cards you have though just based on body language. That's some telepathy shit. Are there actually poker players as good as the ones in the film? How embellished were Damon and Norton's techniques?

Not really embellished at all, among the better players. That’s why the movie is so great.
I don’t know many guys that would try to play a hand blind, of course, but their skills are not abnormal.

Someone came in with the book Crazy Like Us: The Globalization of the American Psyche and decided to tell us that we as Americans need to stop spreading our "Americanism" all over the world. I asked them what they meant, and they started to go on about the book, etc... and how that people around the world see doctors in the US or visa versa and they are told that they don't like themselves because of "x" and are prescribed medication for it or another way of life...

Saying how male privilege is the reason for anorexia, etc... I asked them to explain. They told me that men want women to look a specific way and women think they need to live up to those ideals...

I asked, why does it matter what men think? Why can't women just look the way they want and better themselves for them, and if a man loves them, then so be it... if not, there are other fish in the sea.

She then said that male privilege allows it to happen, and then she went off in how a black man would get paid more than a black woman in the same situation... but a white male would get paid more than both. She said that they went through statistics on this in class, and it shows to be true...

I'm thinking to myself that it's illegal to do that... then she says how I could walk down a street and not worry about getting raped, while she couldn't...

Seriously? I'd be worried more about being mugged than raped if I was her in the first place... but I'll ignore that, it's a poor example, a tired one at best...

In my experience, these full on SJW's wear the ideology like a mask though they themselves may even think otherwise. It's not that they're dumb as much as that they tend to have deep wounds in their 'soul' from exposure to suffering of some kind e.g. bad single parent etc. for which they didn't have the mental tools or philosophical framework to deal with. Hopeless to attempt an intervention and point this out to them though. It's rough - they're on a one way train to hell metaphorically speaking, only they can save themselves, but sometimes they're so far gone that they'll probably never realise that. Any ideology that places the believer as an unblemished paragon of vritue is really really dangerous..

I strongly believe that this kind of full on manifestation of ideological indoctrination happens as a result of their subconscious mind desperately seeking first aid to repair their sense of being. My problem with this person is that as it has been shown, the book they are "bible thumping" isn't even what they are trying to represent it as. Which to me is a problem, they read, but they don't comprehend. Or they read, but they don't think for themselves. I really wish this kind of mentality would be corrected around the same time potty training is done.

If these people are trying to "heal themselves", go find a guru, spend all their money looking for inner peace, and then jump off the cliffs in Ireland like lemmings and leave us alone. I was physically and mentally abused when I was a child because I was "retarded" growing up. Nothing was ever given to me, and I fought for everything... if these kids today don't get their Starbucks, or some local "green earth" coffee to them their day is ruined... it's time to put some cold water on their thinking and show them a real dose of life.

I personally would love to have our government ask these people where they think is better than the US, have them given a one-way ticket there with $1000 in their pocket, and have them live there for a year. Then have them come back (if they are still alive) and report back how they are better than the US...or if their views have changed.
