People who believe what Ron Paul believes work and believe if you don't work then you starve.

Yeah I agree with that. Hell by the time I was 16 I had a full time job working for $4.50 hr as a landscaper working 16 hour days.C-Mag wrote:One of our big problems is the social engineers are pushing the age of actual adulthood back. Yeah I think you're right, he needs some lessons from the school of hard knocks. I doubt me sitting down with him will do any good.GrumpyCatFace wrote:Sounds like me at that age. Holy fuck that kid has thrown away every opportunity sent his way. He decided to not go to college, a smart move for him because he would've flunked out, but every job he gets he quits. He had a job at a local candle factory and he called off at least three times per month until he got fired. Then he got hired at a Walmart distribution center. The job paid $16.50 and hour plus benefits and he went for his orientation day then he got an email stating that they thanked him for his interest in the job but he was not selected for hire. We get this news while we are a family vacation and my sister in law is all upset. I told her maybe it was a mistake and it was a mass email sent out to all that applicants. I told her don't worry about and lets enjoy our time at the beach. The next day she walked down to the beach and told her sister, my wife, that it was indeed an email sent in error. Everything is fine until we get home and found out what really happened. My nephew had a party at his parents house, slept in and never went to the orientation day and lost the job. Then he got hired at an oil field getting paid $14.00 an hour. He did work that job for about 2 months then quit. Now he's looking for another job but he won't apply for fast food because he feels it's below him. That little shit finally got kicked out of the house, hell that should've been done two years ago. My wife asked if I could get him into a local mill that I have connections with and I said absofuckinlutely NOT! Yeah I could get him into a local mill that's union and pays $25.00 hr plus benefits but he'll just quit in a month or less. Oh and all of this happened since Dec 2016.
He probably just needs independence, to realize how fucked he can be, on his own. Either way, it's too late for his parents to teach him how to be a man - that time is passed.
You are very close to describing our 23 year old. In the past year-ish, we've seen some minor improvement, but man, this kid used to thinking working two months in a row meant he had earned himself a three month break. We lol'd hard, right in his face. No duh, kid, that was our goal.
I'm 51. Since the summer I was 16, I've only been unemployed one time, for three weeks, while I was transitioning from one part of the country to another. I don't get this desire to not work. I just don't.C-Mag wrote:

Me neither. That's about all I've been unemployed for too. I took some pretty shitty temp jobs along the way. Shoveling bacon was a favorite.Kath wrote:I'm 51.
