Kubuntu still looks good.
Went with VirtualBox to run my virtual machine.
Wish I never deleted all my old bash scripts.

That was Great, If I could get games like that and the original Battle of Britain I'd download them and play them today. Lot's of fun.ssu wrote:I remember writing BASIC-programs with my VIC-20 as a kid.Fife wrote:I got a snicker. I miss my C64.
Seldom one writes one's Computer games anymore.
C64 was great improvement.
Heck, back then they could use in an awesome way the 64kt available.
Anybody remember Microprose Gunship? That was awesome at it's time.

These guys collect all of the oldest games, once they leave the market.
Also, for old games that the makers simply won't let go of, there's GOG: https://www.gog.com/games?system=window ... asc&page=1

As long as it doesn't have the Amazon shit built in I think it's good. That's what a lot of people were concerned with, privacy wise with Ubuntu. Most people recommend xubuntu but I went with lubuntu to tax my used laptop less. I might try building it up here and there.Speaker to Animals wrote:Kubuntu still looks good.

Wait, what?
I am setting up a development environment now. But I want to download Archlinux to see if I like that better.
Fucking VMWare wants to charge me like $150 to update my license and won't let me download the earlier version of their workstation software, so I am going with Oracle's VirtualBox, which is free, though probably not as efficient.
Linux is already better in the look and feel department than Windows and Mac OS. Fun times ahead.

Ok, I have zero experience with Linux/Unix/not-WindowsOrMac computing.
Is there an option that will be compatible with PC-based games? Or are we stuck with Windows?

Wine runs most games on Linux but really just keep Windows. I dual boot and only use Windows if I have to. Try a virtual machine.
