If you're going to do a good ole fashioned protest, wouldn't it be better to get that fist up in the air instead of your fucking iphone?TheReal_ND wrote:https://twitter.com/IAmAffiya/status/875746143128485890
Footage of protests in London.
Also, not sure if mentioned but the mayor was chased into a mosque by protestors yesterday.

From a practical point of view, holding your fist up in the air serves no purpose. At least holding one's phone up in the air, means one is either recording the protest or more likely live-streaming it to a wider audience.de officiis wrote:If you're going to do a good ole fashioned protest, wouldn't it be better to get that fist up in the air instead of your fucking iphone?TheReal_ND wrote:https://twitter.com/IAmAffiya/status/875746143128485890

Yeah, his neighbors... Was there no fire alarm handle on the walls anywhere in this building? The neighbor who saw the fire said it was a "small fire", this after the guy packed a fucking bag , no fire extinguishers anywhere in this building either?TheReal_ND wrote:I'm going to go on record and say that at least he had the agency to warn his neighbors. I've got an idea!, let's build 24 story buildings out of highly flammable materials, tinder dry wood, etc, with no sprinklers, no fire extinguishers, no fire alarm for someone to pull, stock it full of people who will pack a bag first rather than getting out and calling the fire department, and wait to see how many people die in the blaze it's inevitably going to become... And make sure its as inaccessible to fire trucks as possible, if they bother to call rather than just sit around shooting video of the blaze on their phones...

I always figured a close fist was considered threatening. Expensive phones? Not so much.BjornP wrote:From a practical point of view, holding your fist up in the air serves no purpose. I thought the "fist raised in the air" thing symbolized solidarity. At any rate, if the intent of the gesture wasn't meant to symbolize threat in the first place, then a fist in the air probably wouldn't be a better substitute.de officiis wrote:I always figured a close fist was considered threatening. Also, one would think storming a town hall indicated enough of a threat already.

Re: London Tower Fire
Apparently it was a peaceful storming, no one was injured and the police arrived with riot gear and horses but did not need to intervene. The reason for the storming was the refusal of anyone from the council to meet the protesters. Reports say there was a minor scuffle when council workers were led out of the building and the head of the management company may have been punched. Protesters then withdrew and demonstrated outside for a few hours.BjornP wrote:I thought the "fist raised in the air" thing symbolized solidarity. Mostly people were pissed off that May did not visit the victims but instead met only the emergency services.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.
