When the fascists take over, I can't decide if they should first round up the libertarians or the marxists the libertarians enable.

The regulation was only in place for 3 months and only limited who could invade your privacy and sell the results. It did not give you privacy.Speaker to Animals wrote:Dand wrote:We agree about how it should be then. What is in place does not provide us with privacy though so it should be removed. It is only crony bullshit that selects who can profit from invading our privacy.Speaker to Animals wrote:
Indeed I am.
I don't think those other companies should be allowed to sell data without our consent either.
If privacy is really the issue then new legislation should be made to actually create and protect internet privacy. I believe the big media push about privacy now is totally phony and is hijacking the group of internet users that support internet privacy and using them for money. People want privacy but are being manipulated into arguing a BS position in defense of anti-privacy companies.
edit: I think the problem is that many Americans don't use the internet the way we do or cannot even use computers (Especially judges) and they do not believe we have a right to privacy online. Many people sincerely don't agree with us that privacy is a right.
It's pretty fucking simple: without regulations like this, we'd quickly devolve into a fucking surveillance state. Why do you think the government wants this so badly?
There will be, in the next generation or so, a pharmacological method of making people love their servitude, and producing dictatorship without tears, so to speak, producing a kind of painless concentration camp for entire societies, so that people will in fact have their liberties taken away from them, but will rather enjoy it, because they will be distracted from any desire to rebel by propaganda or brainwashing, or brainwashing enhanced by pharmacological methods. And this seems to be the final revolution.

I'm not understanding you clearly. Which government wants what so badly? Obama's that put the ISP regulation in place or Trump's that is removing the ISP regulation? They both seem to want a surveillance state to me and this ISP regulation had no effect either way on whether we live in a surveillance state or not. The state already has access to all the private information that's being discussed and this is about what private entities can share in profiting from the surveillance.
And yeah, I know who Huxley is and agree it's a scary dystopic future we're heading towards.

You do understand me clearly, but you don't want to admit your libertarian leanings result in terrible public policy outcomes.

All I understand from your posts is your hatred of libertarians, which is all you're talking about because apparently you have no other argument to defend cronyism.

I don't get the hub bub at all.
1. this doesn't limit all entities from passing along your info so why bother with this?
2. If the government wants your shit, they will get your shit. People like GCF, think Hillary would be any better are delusional. We all know this would still be happening and the OP would support because She is with Her.
3. I am generally opposed to any regulation or rulemaking done by an unelected body so I am predisposed to supporting Congress disciplining an Executive agency.

Go Trump!
To the highest bidder, as someone said.
After all, it's a clever new market to sell and buy information about consumers, right?
Will create jobs for uh.. bots and Computer programs!

It's not a new market by any means. You're completely engulfed in the United States media propaganda if you think anything significant is changing.ssu wrote:Go Trump!

Data mining and selling info about web users is an old thing.Dand wrote:It's not a new market by any means. You're completely engulfed in the United States media propaganda if you think anything significant is changing.ssu wrote:Go Trump!

But now you don't have some hypocrite legislation that would assume to limit it.
The old legislation is big government overreach, as some Republican said.
