You know what I love most about the overthrow of Allende? There are many aspects of course, including the fact that Allende thought that Pinochet was his man, and that he would have Pinochet to impose his agenda on the population by force, sweet irony is that, but by far and away, the most delicious moment, is when Allende realizes that Pinochet is not in fact coming to save him, but rather in fact coming to depose him, and so Allende turns to his cadre and says "tell the workers to prepare to fight!", and his lieutenants say "but Senor Presidente, you instituted the strict gun control laws, so we took all the guns away, they cannot fight the army, because they have no arms!"
Delightful.
Tisk. Now, I know you're baiting me!
That is some earned schadenfreude though.
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

But I'll concede this. One shift we've is that a more dogmatic left is gaining traction, or at least public exposure.
Perhaps as a reaction to that, we've seen the rise of more skepticism or cynicism on the right, specifically the alt right.
That's why the alt right are funny, something the regular right has generally failed at in the past. Perhaps the main way to be funny is to poke holes in silly narratives. So you can't be (intentionally) funny when claiming there are backwards messages on records and that Harry Potter will turn kids into witches. Same if you argue that middle class, white, American women are horribly oppressed. But you can be funny by making fun of those things.
But, I think the dogmatists who think Noah's Ark should be in science books are still there on the right, and a lot of cynics/skeptics are still there on the left.
I agree that there are both crazies/extremes on both sides of the usual political spectrum. The Right has the alt-right while the Left has the SJWs. Although, it is both sides that are grooming both extremes and trying to make them the mainstream ideology as of lately. Although, the Right has been grooming the hatred/knee-jerking of anything that the Left/Dems have done or want to do for decades longer.

Point to an alt-right riot. I'll wait.
Waiting
Gonna be waiting for a while. These, "everything's the same on both sides," types don't seem to be able to present any evidence to back up their arguments. I can show all day the terroristic violence of the left, and they'd love to be able to show that the right is the same, but they can't.
Come on, lefties. Show us a smidgen of what you claim exists on both sides. If it's all same same, shouldn't be hard. We're waiting.

I wish I could be so reasonable as to believe that there are ZERO idiots in my political camp.
Anyway, I think there's a lot of overlap between alt right and pizzagate, right?
Edit: also, I misread "riot" as "idiot." Winning!
Alt right riot, don't know of one. Not really their thing. There's a problem with that particular group on the left at this moment. Calling it "mass political violence" is a bit silly.
Reagan's campaigns in Central America fit that bill. Guess everyone to the right of Chomsky is a huge fan of nun rape.

It's not silly. Mass political violence is exactly what is happening. It is organized from by the democratic leadership and perpetrated by countless supporters on the streets. And all I hear and read from you guys who claim to not be like that is rationalization and blame shifting.
