He botched the VA, everyone remembers that, and you can't botch that. Don't take the job if you can't do it, resign if you realize you can't. Hubris got us the wounded warriors, hubris isn't going to heal them.

He looked at the numbers and gave a fair assessment, one that was ignored. It would have been great if he decided that being ignored wasn't the same as being powerless, but here we are with a shitty VA.

This cabinet is going to be a joke. Let's put people in charge of things they loathe. EPA? Get someone who thinks the EPA is completely unnecessary.

I think Canada has the right idea.

O Canada.....What a cabinet:
Minister of Health is a doctor.
Minister of Transport is an astronaut.
Minister of National Defense is a Sikh Veteran.
Minister of Youth is under the age of 45.
Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food is a former farmer.
Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness was a Scout.
Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development was a financial analyst.
Minister of Finance is a successful businessman.
Minister of Justice was a crown prosecutor and is a First Nations leader.
Minister of Sport, and Persons with Disabilities is a visually impaired Paralympian.
Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, and Canadian Coastguard is Inuit.
Minister of Science is a medical geographer with a PhD.

That's the way we've been doing it forever. You just want more of the same.

Well, I want someone in charge of environmental policy to LIKE the environment.
I want someone in charge of food & drug safety to CARE about the safety of the food & drugs put into the market.

Plenty of non-swamp creatures who meet the outsider criteria without hating the departments they want to lead.

I bet you'd never heard of any of those people before the washington post told you everything you know about them. I'm certain the EPA guy doesn't dislike the environment, so that's certainly something you read in fake news.

If you're wal-mart, GM, or pfizer, you're fine with the EPA and FDA. They can't touch you and your army of attorney's but they can sure as hell fuck over your small business competition, which is exactly what they exist for.

That's putting a lot of blind faith into these regulators and the laws they make. I love the nominees and hope they'll remain critical so they can actually weaken these regulatory agencies.

It's kneejerk dismissal to say that because Pruitt is not in line with the current EPA that he doesn't "like the environment".

Okee... just stop.

Perhaps you've heard of George W. Bush? He's a fairly well known republican. Thinks Trumps pick for EPA is horrid. We're talking about a leading guy in a state where fracking is causing earthquakes. Even when told fracking is the cause of their earthquakes, OK decided the fracking was worth it.

You can cheer lead all day that it's a good thing the FDA will allow non tested products to the market for human consumption. Woo hoo! Money saving, bitches! But, the FDA already has way too little power. Imagine if the guy leading the FDA thinks they should have even less power.

Yikes.

I don't care what W or the NYT or the washington post has to say. Not one single fuck given for a word from any of them. If they're unhappy, I'm happy. You don't seem to get that the rest of us don't want more of the same big government getting bigger and bigger.

My biggest concern is removal of regulation. You know, stuff like, don't throw your sewage into my streams, don't put tainted food on the market, don't put dangerous drugs that haven't been tested to market.

I hear de-regulation and I think "go ahead, corporate America, pollute away!" The new guy in charge of the EPA says it's cool.

I'll tell you truthfully I'm kinda cool with it. Even when it comes to team Red few of them are out living in the nice parts of the interior that haven't been fucked up by rapacious and ill-advised agriculture/minerals management. When the seas rise their coastal properties will be just as fucked as anyone else, and all of their team Blue free loading tenants will just move. I'm just curious to see if the insurance companies see it coming and modify their policies and lobbying efforts accordingly.

I think the cold makes you tougher and the heat just makes you want to not be hot. Its why I love Texas, but I'm pretty sure in a war between Texans and Canadians, Canadians would win. Center of the landmass will still get fucking cold even after the sun belt resorts to airlock docking parts from their air conditioned cars to their air conditioned walmarts.
