You really don't need vehicles that much in most of the UK (or, at least, most Britons don't need to to drive as much compared to Americans). There is no way we could pay that much for gas here without major economic turmoil. We could probably gradually get there over many years, but it would have to be really slow and we'd have to adapt society to it.Montegriffo wrote: ↑Fri Apr 10, 2020 10:51 amPah, it's still around £6 a gallon here. You have no idea what high gas taxes are.Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Fri Apr 10, 2020 10:46 amAbout 1.79 here.
We have pretty fucking awful gas taxes, though.
However, Gaia approves.

They just dump the excess oil to free up space, drilling oil is a strategic military imperative, waste is no matterMontegriffo wrote: ↑Fri Apr 10, 2020 10:54 amBut if supply is vastly outstripping demand sooner or later they will run out of storage. At that point what option do they have apart from stop extracting it?Smitty-48 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 10, 2020 10:49 amNo, at minimum oil is needed for shipping and war, so it's not going away, the MICC will prop it up for NATSECMontegriffo wrote: ↑Fri Apr 10, 2020 10:48 am
Once they run out of storage for all the unused oil and refined products will they have to stop pumping it out of the ground?

Tax on diesel or petrol is 58p per litre or £2.60 a gallon. That's $3.25 at today's exchange rate.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

So far the COVID cases in our county have slowed since we've locked down
64 cases confirmed in the county, all in four healthcare facilities
No actual signs of community spread here yet

Is there some reason they can't just stop pumping it until demand recovers?

Asheville does not seem to be in exponential growth right now either. Thank fuck for the TDS of the liberals. When Trump was talking shit about how this is like the flu and it will magically go away by April, they decided it must be completely fucking lethal and started preparing. The county was locked down before the rest of the state.
