I just want to know where the source is that says that the most likely people to get firearms are sociopaths.

By that logic, there are more than fifty million armed sociopaths in the US, and they are also the most law abiding demo in the nation.

I'd like to see how this gets rationalized.

Because there are no population wide studies of sociopathy.

Sociopathy is diagnosed only in forensic assessments which by definition occur in those found guilty of crimes.

Depending on the crimes, these individuals are then, of course, prohibited from owning firearms.

If they do own firearms they are highly unlikely to admit to it on a survey.

Most sociopaths do not admit to being sociopaths, nor do they necessarily consider themselves sociopaths.

They do not seek out help... because they do not have a problem... other than you... if you cross them.

So think about it... what percentage of sociopaths are going to have a firearm.
They trust no one. They are practical and ruthless.
They have no conscience when it comes to lying or breaking the law.
The black or white market will serve them equally well.

Vs non-sociopaths.
Probably going to get a gun for hunting or self defence.
But may not bother if it's too much of a hassle... or if they feel safe enough as it is and don't enjoy hunting or sport shooting.

My hypothesis is there is more reason for gun ownership among sociopaths and less getting in their way.
But I have no source to confirm this... so it remains an unproven hypothesis.

But also...

Most criminals aren't sociopaths.

People commit crimes for all kinds of reasons.
Drug addiction being probably the most common.
Drug crime is a working job for many people who aren't sociopaths but have no other prospects/skills.
But also gang membership is part of how some communities operate. Not all kids in gangs are sociopaths.
But a percentage are...

Also not all sociopaths are convicted criminals... because they are good at getting away with their crimes.
Especially white collar sociopaths.
They are more likely to make a killing than to kill.... but they also kill sometimes.
