Nah, he’s reflecting on how no amount of BS gun control laws will stop a determined sociopath from getting a gun, so we should probably just stop legislating weapons away from citizens under the guise of preventing them from falling into the hands of sociopaths.

BUT... people get homicidal who aren't sociopaths.
The guy who shot up the movie theatre is a good example.
Maybe most mass shooters fall into this category... although that's conjecture.
Often they are on meds which probably make them more unstable...

I see kids like this from time to time.
They are unhinged and may very well fail the basic checks that ordinary people and sociopaths can get through pretty easily.

So this is an argument FOR the basic test and backround check system.

It doesn't unnecessarily burden ordinary folks and sociopaths will get guns anyways.
Therefore ordinary people will be able to protect themselves (somewhat) from sociopaths...
And some wingnuts will get stopped... cause they are too unbalanced to manage these simple checks.

For the most part we have these already... but some states make getting a gun so easy... that any but the most raving lunatic can pick up an AR15 without the most basic inconvenience.

Really it's the frequency of medications in the system of the mass shooters that is the best clue that we're not talking about typical sociopaths.

Sociopaths don't go to doctors for medications... when they are in hardened killer mode.... which they may have been in for their entire life.

They feel no remorse... and know nothing about guilt... so there's no problem...

It's only when the previously sociopathic individual starts to develop these feelings that they go to the doctor... and are prescribed and an antidepressant.

And this is a sign that the sociopathy is breaking down... think Tony Soprano (development can happen at any stage... contrary to popular belief)

The problem was never depression... the "problem" was that the sociopath was passing out of the sociopath stage... and starting to feel.

Meds can then put fuel on the fire for the sociopath... making them even more impulsive and unstable... a bad medication choice.

Sociopaths are cold and calculating... and mass shooting is not something that will benefit the shooter... unlike home invasion or killing an enemy.
Except possibly for some of the terrorists who see it as a war against the infidel.

I just want to know where the source is that says that the most likely people to get firearms are sociopaths.

By that logic, there are more than fifty million armed sociopaths in the US, and they are also the most law abiding demo in the nation.

I'd like to see how this gets rationalized.
