How stupid does he think we are?
Lying again... FFS. Raising our prices by 20% is not Mexico paying for the wall. It's making us pay for the wall. Madness, this wall is.President Trump’s plan to make Mexico pay for the wall he intends to build on the southern border may have taken shape Thursday, when his spokesman suggested imposing a 20-percent import tax on Mexican goods.

WE agree on a lot of this stuff, except maybe I have doubt about ^ this part where you are being sarcastic.GrumpyCatFace wrote: you should keep putting money into them.
2008 metldown scared everyone into realizing how vulnerable/overleveraged/fraudulent the system is.
But maybe it should have informed me that no matter what happens, we can fake this thing back into a hockey stick graph, and we will stop at nothing to do it (Bank of Japan owns more than half the entire Japanese ETF market, Euro bank now buying corp bonds so the corps can go do infinite buy backs, we got QE/Operations Twist/ZIRP, who the fuck knows what china is doing).
So yeah, this is not a "market", this is fake -- but even simply assuming the veracity of my criticisms, it doesn't follow that we are gonna have a return to price discovery.

I can agree with that. But there is simply no way that it makes sense to have money in the market right now, unless you think it's just going to be forced upward for the rest of your investing lifetime. There will be a crash, and that will be the time to put it all on black. Right now, it's just a game of Greater Fools.apeman wrote:WE agree on a lot of this stuff, except maybe I have doubt about ^ this part where you are being sarcastic.GrumpyCatFace wrote: you should keep putting money into them.

Too hyperbolic -- what if we get legit inflation? Yellen announced she will let it run hot, every bank has been intentionally trying to spark inflation for a decade now -- what if it happens?GrumpyCatFace wrote:I can agree with that. We're still a good 15+ years from retirement. Our financial planner isn't worried about the Stock Market in the long term. She'd be easing us out if we were retiring in a year or two.
Stock market is for the long game.

Re: THE ERA OF TRUMP
I read of a Mexican boycott of American companies and it reminded me of something I thought Trump ought to do. It occurred to me that Trump should say something like, "America is going to adopt the immigration policy of Mexico", which of course is very severe, eg, they quickly deport any illegal immigrants from south America, regardless of whether it breaks up families, removes children from their parents, etc. The hypocrisy is stunning. It's worth mentioning that many, many Mexicans are extremely racist against central and south Americans.

You're working from the idea that the stocks will automatically rise to match inflation? Sure, over the Grand LongTerm Period they will.apeman wrote:Too hyperbolic -- what if we get legit inflation? Or do you mean that American megacorps will suddenly be more profitable because of it? They won't, but the numbers will be slightly more bigly.
Face it, there is absolutely nothing holding us up at these ridiculous heights, except Fed manipulation. QE is over, and rates are rising. Man the lifeboats.

Re: THE ERA OF TRUMP
For the first time in my adult life, I am utterly unsure about the markets. I've been eying buying--especially fun stuff like Colorado marijuana--but instead have left nearly everything alone, just reinvesting the steady dividends. I anticipate a hit, however, and soon, but it's really just shits and giggles for me.
I'd like to see WALL BONDS with a serious inflation indexed return!
