As one of my grandfathers would have said Jesus, Joseph, and Mary and all the Saints. Political science and political economy both study politics, economics, and society albeit with a different focus. Whoever created each does not give support to any political or economic system. They are tools, you nimrods.Hanarchy Montanarchy wrote:You said you only took half a semester, know you know what they do in graduate school. I just can't pin down your sliding scale of expertise.Speaker to Animals wrote:Hanarchy Montanarchy wrote:
A physics program that uses a lot of Newton's theories, but manages to ignore the kookier ones? I should expect most colleges do that.
What the fuck?
If you study political economics in graduate school, you are learning Marxism. If you study physics, you will learn Newtonian mechanics for like a year as an undergrad. Your analogy is total garbage.
Yes as GFC said it is a berserk botton for me. So, aside from whining about eeeevil Marxism, again, is there any thoughts on why Peru is doing well compared to Venezuela, or perhaps to South Africa? That was the other country in my comparison.

WaPo even riffs on ‘The Maduro diet’:
Venezuela’s paradox: People are hungry, but farmers can’t feed them
What a paradox... a regular mystery story.

Several of his cavernous henhouses sit empty because, Escobar said, he can’t afford to buy more chicks or feed. Government price controls have made his business unprofitable, and armed gangs have been squeezing him for extortion payments and stealing his eggs.

Oh, will you look at that. Marxist professors no longer have to spend an afternoon at the copy machine to distribute the political economics textbooks..

Re: Venezuela news
Venezuela is now 90 days into their protests, Maduro has put out feelers for an end to the protests, they have been re-buffed.
Maduro responds by upping pressure and is now attacking the press. Goldman Sachs has jumped in and invested in Maduro. Now I am seeing calls from the press for International help on the Venezuela situation.
What all this tells me is Maduro is starting to lose control and the end is in sight for the Maduro Regime. I'm going to call it, Maduro has no more than 90 Days in power, unless some international group bales him out.

Yeah, I noted that. But I think it will take more than that to save Maduro right now. His Police are ready to desert him, and I see the opposition as determined.GrumpyCatFace wrote:Like Goldman Sachs?
