There was another guy up north last year, who was a serial domestic abuser, and his ex girlfriends testified against him and he went to jail, so he was known to police, as a violent sociopath, with a criminal record, but fresh out of jail, none the less went around and shot all three ex girlfriends dead, in their homes, on the same day, with a very restricted handgun.

A woman in Florida who was abused by her husband, got a restraining order, but he came after her anyway. She had a gun, though. The only snag was, that instead of just shooting him dead, she fired a warning shot, and she went to prison for it.

But I have no problem with the basic licence and backcheck as it exists now.

I don't feel any need to carry.

I can have my handgun... and will keep it in a safe... all nice and legal... how is a bumpstock or extra sized magazine going to keep me safer?

Any other Canadian can do the same... and the test and backcheck aren't that big a deal... not really draconian.

But many wingnuts aren't organized or disciplined enough to bother...
(i.e. the homicidal kids I deal all the time... they aren't organized enough to get to school never mind write a test and clear a backround check)
Now the street wise kids can get a gun easy... but they tend to be bound by the reality of the streets... they are surrounded by similar kids who keep them in check... they don't end up seeing me... why would they.

Well you're a useful idiot for the gun grabbers of course, because upon closer inspection it can be determined that the Firearms Act in Canada, along with some tangential laws in support of, is in fact a tangled web of legal jeopardy intended to deter people from putting themselves in the jackpot simply by owning a gun, all this run by the Nanny Police State RCMP, who the politicians are afraid of, because the RCMP could take them down at any time if they ever cross the RCMP.

I'm not an American, I'm not even a republican, but I do know where the Gun Grabbers of America are intending to go, because I live there now, and if I was an American and a republican, I would actually say, that by doctrine, it would be legitimate to invoke the Declaration of Independence as casus belli against the Gun Grabbers, as they are by definition, un-American, anti-American, de facto loyalist enemies of the republic bent on the overthrow of the Declaration of Independence from which everything else flows.

Now they would of course fit right in here in Upper Canada under the rule of the British Crown, but that's kind of the point, from an American republican point of view.

Sociopaths are people who don't care about other peoples rights, they can be hardened killers... (or corporate or political predators)
Sometimes also called psychopaths.

They are not mentally ill, they are often intelligent and very capable of organizing and carrying out their plans.
Their crimes are generally not committed impulsively... although they can also be impulsive.

If they set their mind to kill.... they are crafty, manipulative and rarely deterred by the law.
They do just fine in the prison system... they rarely fear it.

These are your bread and butter gangsters and hitmen.
They are also often the folks who knock off their exgirlfriends, or anyone else who crosses them.

They are the mostly likely folks to obtain a firearm in any system.... and the more red tape you make them cross, the less armed competition they will come up against... so it works in their favour.

They are rarely involved in mass shootings because sociopaths generally value their lives and mass shootings are usually a form of suicide mission.
