Heh plebs fighting over scraps.
yeah fuck those plebs who pay taxe sand don't want their wages undercut by illegals that one major political party openly cares more about than citizens right? The same people who view us as "plebs" are the people who want all these illegals to flood in just fyi. You can sneer at me all you want, but this shit will not just affect the poor. H1B's are an obvious way that native tech workers get screwed here, but the unintended consequences of these policies always end up affecting the middle class too.
Very much so. The bottom-rung min wage worker is not affected by illegals, unless he’s applying for the same jobs. But the middle class is directly face-fucked by H1Bs every day.
My point is that causing an uproar among the bottom rung, over fence jumpers dying to do shit work is a perfect distraction from the real issues causing direct harm. Nobody is jumping a fence or dying of thirst to take a tech job. They just fly them in, and hand them over because it’s cheap.
This is the same attitude of the NAFTA/GATT people. And no, if you make them citizens let them vote, they will have an impact on every facet of life. Again, our immigration system is fucked if 2/3 of all immigrants are on welfare. We are taking them in at a loss in many cases. If truck driving becomes automated in 20 years, where will the truck drivers go? They will jump into blue collar jobs and compete with existing workers. That already lowers wages and raises the unemployment/disability rate, which will raise the taxes needed. Now add in millions of illegals, who pay no taxes, use our healthcare require our services etc. At this point you might argue we should just legalize them. Well, then they will immediately go on welfare, and our govt will now have to hire bilingual speakers, start making spanish the official language in certain areas etc. There is no possible way that this will end working in our favor. Labor has decreased in value, and capital has increased. I see no sign of this trend reversing. So how is the solution adding more labor to equation? That's not going to help any Americans out in terms of wages/hours/benefits. At all. In fact, quite the opposite is needed. We are fucking with the labor market and treasury in a major way with this shit, to say nothing of the myriad other societal problems that this causes.
If this major collapse that you always talk about happens, then we will be stuck with millions of lowskilled unassimilated unemployed foreigners in our border. How do you picture that ending? I do not think you have thought this through at all. You act like Republicans who are rightfully outraged at the loss of our sovereignty via caving to illegals and amnesties are morons and that this issue is somehow this political scapegoat, but your platform of, don't worry the illegals won't affect anything, is the exact propaganda that major banks, corporations, and career politicians (the people you purport to hate) are spewing out to the masses via CNN, Colbert, and all those stupid late night shows. Eventually, farm work will be automated, but these folks who came here because you want cheap tomatoes via slave labor will not leave with the work, because by that time, you will argue that they are citizens and they should stay. I'm glad that we are setting a physical boundary, and a cultural one. I've said this one million times on here, but if you think automation, and global warming will lead to scarcity of jobs, and resources like food or water, then
now is the time where we re-assert our borders and sovereignty. Even if neither of those things end up happening the way people predict, we still need to draw a line and have the principles to stick by it.
