Re: Current US Military
Here's what I think this exercise is about; the Navy used to have two dedicated Special Warfare helicopter squadrons, HSC-84 "Redwolves" and HSC-85 "Firehawks", but for budgetary reasons the Navy shut those squadrons down, so what they're doing now is transferring that tasking to the general MH-60S squadrons in the fleet, basically just spreading the Special Warfare infil/exfil tasking around to all the units rather than having two units dedicated to it, so they're probably just rotating crews through this training on intervals to keep their currency up.
Army 160 SOAR are the subject matter experts, so they are likely there as the mentor/instructors.

My old Sergeant Major, "Remember, all it takes is one asshole with a skilcraft."Meet the Skilcraft pen with 38 career kills
Deep in the bowels of the Pentagon, the most legendary killer in the Department of Defense doesn’t hold high rank, hasn’t been head-hunted by a contractor, and doesn’t even demand a parking spot. In fact, he lives in a desk drawer.
Meet “Rusty,” the black Skilcraft pen who’s responsible for killing 38 careers.
Many at Joint Staff J1 remember Rusty fondly from when he was fresh out of the box at Navy Human Resources command.
“There was something different about Rusty,” said Capt. Harold Black, who’s served with Rusty for over 20 years. “Whenever I needed to sign a crushing FITREP, I knew that Rusty could get the job done. I’ve gone back to Rusty for all my favorite UCMJ actions, and even a little note telling an admiral to resign before his corruption charges leaked to the press. Rusty’s a stone cold career killer.”

The Pentagon knows its limitations, whether or not the civilian authority takes those recommendations is another story, but the Pentagon would certainly say that an invasion of Iran is beyond their means at this juncture.GrumpyCatFace wrote:First time I've seen you say something blatantly wrong about our MIC.Smitty-48 wrote: the Pentagon knows its limitations.

When satire comes so far around it isn't satire anymore,
Chelsea Manning hopes to become Senate’s first openly transgender disgrace
Convicted traitor Chelsea Manning has announced the start of her campaign to become the US Senate’s first openly-transgender disgrace, sources confirmed this week.
“We need someone willing to fight,” Manning continues, referring to her inability to fight when her supervisor removed the bolt from her rifle after she was found in a cupboard in the fetal position.
Although the 30-year-old traitor with no advanced education is a historically unqualified candidate, supporters claim her emotional problems and mental instability make her a great fit for the current political climate.
When reached for comment, Manning responded with four emojis and a cartoon photo of herself flashing a peace sign.

The end of this one got a IRL lol.Meet the Union Army private who bought a mustang at 46% interest
Shortly after receiving his first bi-monthly pay of $13, O’Connell went to a saloon in nearby Brunswick and quickly became betrothed to Theresa Hayes, a fancy-girl who works there. Wanting to impress her further, he went to a used-horse dealer right outside camp and financed the acquisition of a tamed feral horse for $120, to be paid over 60 months at 46% interest.

Fat Leonard sized bribes!
Air Force attaches parking boots to pilots to stop them from leaving service
Pilot retention has nosedived in recent years. Reasons for that include a high deployment rate, the state of the crazy, mixed-up, formerly-beloved Air Force Academy, and the fact that every single flying squadron commander was fired in 2017 for poking subordinates while taking Fat Leonard-sized bribes.
The Air Force is working overtime — a rarity among Airmen — to fix the retention problem. In a recent testimony to Congress, Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. David L. Goldfein used Fingerlings to demonstrate exactly how the service is mitigating its pilot shortage.
“This one here,” he said, wiggling an index finger on which was placed a Fingerling with a perfectly-shaped beard, a kombucha drink in one hand and a gourmet taco in the other, “is the traitor pilot leaving for six figures and weekends off at Delta.”
“And this one here,” he said, waggling another finger, “is our solution.” A Fingerling with an Air Force security forces uniform held a boot clamp in one hand and in the other, a yellow flag portraying a snake with the lettering, “Don’t Leave on Me.”
