Today’s progressives, like the Progressive Party of the early 20th century, are focused on reforming the status quo to fix social and economic inequalities, said Alphonso, but with a different goal in mind: to equitably redistribute government resources instead of fundamentally transforming government.

“(Earlier Progressives) were nationalists,” said Alphonso. “It was about creating national strength and national durability... now when we think about it the discourse of small ‘p’ progressives is not so much focused on nation — it is a little bit — but it more focused on specific groups and making sure specific groups have their say in government policy. It’s really not so universalist in its approach.”

The Connecticut Communist Party gave out awards on Saturday, December 8 to Eva Bermudez Zimmerman, SEIU organizer and former Lt. Governor primary candidate, and Shellye Davis, president of the Greater Hartford Labor Council.

Davis and Zimmerman received the award presented by the Connecticut People’s World Committee on the “99th anniversary of the Communist Party USA,” according to the announcement on the blog Connecticut People Before Profits.
The Connecticut Communist Party USA is part of the national Communist Party USA, which believes, “Socialism will usher in a new era to this country.”

“Socialism is not a dream, but a necessity to working peoples’ lives. Only socialism has the solutions to the problems of capitalism in this country,” according to CPUSA program statement entitled, The Road to Socialism.

Make no mistake - we are under attack.

Good luck with that. You can't come to the South. Maybe Western Man will let you in.

Why do the center and the right suck so much at defeating Marxism?

Why do people believe Marxisms works even though it's responsible for more deaths than both World Wars combined?

Why do people think a tiny minority of Communists are a threat to the US but the far right is exaggerated and no real danger?
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

It's not a tiny minority.....and the momentum is with the far left.....Americans are embracing leftism.....why? Why do people flock to government redistribution of wealth instead of using the government to break up monopolies? Why do people turn a blind eye to the massive and epic failings of leftism?

The articles I've been posting in this thread show CT is moving hard left....Communism is not a fringe position anymore....the people want it....I don't get it...do they not see what happened in Russia? the DPRK? Venezuela? Cuba? and the PRC? I don't understand it.

That one is easy... because they *think* that Marxism will make them better off.

Yes, it's killed more people than both world wars combined, and it will actually make them worse off if they survive the purges... but the majority of people are stupid short term thinkers, and the ones that aren't that still buy into it stupidly think they'll be the ones in power under the new Marxist regime - they probably will be the first to die since they'll be the most dangerous to those really in charge.

Why aren't right leaning think tanks funding commercials showing the horrors of socialism and praising the merits of capitalism? What the fuck are they waiting for? Have the conceded defeat?

Why are the conservatives not venturing into the inner cities and explaining to people why socialism always fails and making promises to break up the monopolies?
