You remember more details than I do. Both those cases were pretty average people getting boned. So, I'm not in shock that it's gotten around to the Weinsteins of the World.LVH2 wrote:I think Rolling Stone was the frat.
Lacrosse guys was just the media in general.
Both of those cases were based on the testimony of one witness. I didn't really pay attention to the Duke Lacrosse one, but the RS one had holes in it right off the bat. And it just sounded crazy on it's face. And it was exactly what certain people wish was true.
A lot of the time it's going to be a smell test, off the bat. Things like, is there money to be made?

I am already seeing the crazier feminist types on my FB feed making accusations against average guys. Don't confuse the media circus with the whole story. Women are about to launch into a virtue signaling feeding frenzy with this. There will be #meToo marches and quite a lot of women are going to want a piece of the attention.
This is going to be a fucking bonfire of average guys getting screwed over by false accusations, in my opinion.

We are approaching the extreme swing of the pendulum on this. I see this settling out to a better place. Feminazis are going to burn themselves out.................... Many of them won't have to make false allegations. I think many of us know multiple women who have been the victims of some kind of sexual abuse. At least I do. The majority of perpetrators are "average guys."
I know several who have been raped or molested. I know a former air traffic controler who, early on in the process was told she'd have to give a BJ to move ahead. Another who was a dealer with a similar experience. I can safely assume that more of them have not told me about it than have. (actually, I only learned about the 2 workplace ones because I was sitting there when they had the conversation.)
Guys who do stuff like this often do it again and again until they are caught, so one guy might average a lot of victims. To pull a number out of my ass, lets say the mean number is 15. Even if 2% of guys do stuff like this, they are going to get to a lot of women.
Now, "stuff like this" is a wide range of stuff. Groping a co worker and molesting a kid aren't the same thing. There are going to be episodes where a guy is drunk, or just socially clueless, or things are misinterpreted, blah blah blah. Not every guy who does something innapropriate at some point in his life is a "sexual predator."
In many cases, a woman could do the exact same thing and get away with it or it would be perceived very differently, as with exposing themselves, making lewd comments, etc.
I'm not saying there are never false allegations, or that there isn't a danger to going into witch hunt mode. But there are lots and lots of women who can come forward honestly.

That's a hilarious quote if you knew what it means.

I know plenty of men who were sexually assaulted by women. What do you think would happen to one of them if he told his story on Facebook?
Rape and sexual assault are not gendered problems, but gynocentrism guarantees that's exactly how society will treat it. We have seen countless women raping boys in schools over the past few years. The response was snickers and yawns. A few women make baseless allegations in public and we are already in full-blown moral panic mode. Seriously stop and consider that before throwing on your white knight armor and riding forth to save the poor, helpless women.

This gets to what is beginning to fascinate me about this case and its related cases. All these women, and on occasion men, who put up with sexual assault did it to protect or advance their careers, and kept quiet about it for ages. Why? Because suddenly the mood's changed, from it just being "how it is", accepted and even joked about, to suddenly there being - or not seeming to be - any career or social repurcussions to telling on somebody who used their position to gain sexual favors.LVH2 wrote:

The media reaction has been tragi-comical. Here in Denmark, there's a movie producer (Peter Aalbæk) who had been publically spanking unpaid interns if they made mistakes or didn't reach a deadline (or rather giving them the choice of a spanking or cleaning the pig enclosure on his farm), walking around the office naked and having naked hot tub parties at the office. If the employees found that unacceptable, they could quit. For years, the cultural radical (progressive) media personalities had been making excuses for him and his company: "They're artists! He's a champion against puritanism and the average and the mundane!". Not that he's in any legal trouble. Nothing he did was technically illegal. His "alternative" management style was public knowledge and all employees agreed to abide by it.
But while the media is not the mood that changed (social media created that), they are facilitators of the current and changing moods. It sure would be nice if more of them were a little more self-critical about that.
Fame is not flattery. Respect is not agreement.

Even if everything you say is true, there are still lots and lots of women who can come forward with true stories of abuse at the hands of "average guys."Speaker to Animals wrote:LVH2 wrote:Many of them won't have to make false allegations.
