Well, the motion is utterly routine. In fact, it's basically mandatory. No issues are preserved for appeal without such a motion, and it would be textbook ineffective assistance of counsel not to have such a motion filed.
As to the merits, I'm not qualified to even guess. All I know about the record and what actually occurred at trial is from a bare minimum of news and internet chatter. I'm sure there will be some juicy issues, given the publicity potentially affecting the jury.

Except if you take the interview with two jurors, one which was a reserve, and another which made it all the way thought there were issues already there. The non-reserve was an activist.Fife wrote: ↑Wed May 05, 2021 4:55 amWell, the motion is utterly routine. In fact, it's basically mandatory. On top of that, the judge during part of the case told the Prosecution that if they continued down a path the Judge would throw out the case... they did what the judge told them not to do less than 5 minutes later and the case continued. They knew he wouldn't throw the case out because he was afraid of the mobs.
He also didn't sequester the jury either... and if we have found anything out as of late if you don't do that on such a high-profile case such as this... the level of "wokeness" and "emotion over logic" that has filtered through our system as of late makes it almost impossible for anyone to get a "fair" trial.
Justice didn't happen in that courtroom. After watching that facade, I don't know if I would want to have a jury of my "peers" judge my fate.

I agree. At this point in our civilization, our citizenry has slid down the IQ bell curve to the left of the chart. In the past, I believe that jurors were mentally able to separate how they felt from the facts of the case, and make a decision based on that. You used to see it all the time back in the day, where an accused murderer would go free because the prosecution didn't have a strong enough case. I was in elementary school during the OJ trial, but it appears to me that after the Rodney King riots and the OJ trial, you saw more politically motivated jurors, especially in urban areas. The Conservative wrote: ↑Wed May 05, 2021 5:25 am

At the state we're in now, I wouldn't want to be a white guy in the defendant's chair.

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

More like:
I used to sell these at a place called the Game Keeper. It was a board game store back in the 90's... a terrible place to work, but you met some really interesting people... played against a few master chess players... got my ass kicked a few times, but it's something I'll never forget.

The funny thing about pigeons is that they were actually used as food when they got brought over here, now they are a pest, and we make cartoons about them.
