Was listening to some ole prof on econtalk running down the forefathers for being the wealthy bastards most leaders of men are.

He said GW's net would be 24 bil. Said he was a bad guy cause he'd keep the choicest of the land from grants won from the crown to himself.

It all started with the Ohio Company, that was the land speculation which sent Major George Washington to the "forks of the Monongahela", very deliberately, which set the land speculators on the path, to Manifest Destiny.

He didn't make the call, he was just a Major, his brothers Lawrence and Augustine were partners in the Ohio Company with Virginia Governor Thomas Lee, of the Virginia Lee's (Lightfoot Harry and Marse Robert came later) but the Ohio Company speculators had a much bigger vision than simply "grants", they didn't go for "grants", they went to take, and when the British Crown stood in their path, they overthrew the British Crown in its own colonies for doing so.

Pretty simple plan actually, provoke a war with France, fight that war with the British to get France out of the way, once France is out of the way, cut a deal with France and turn on the British to get them out of the way, once the British were out of the way, get rid of the Indians...

The Bible didn't have much to do with the Founding Fathers neither, most of them being deists, what they were invoking, was not the Bible, rather a divine mandate, from God himself, directly to them, to be the kings of Virginia. Then US Grant and Billy Sherman took that mandate from them, and gave it to you.
