Cooperation is Great, Community is Great, Pride in Nation is Great, etc.
It becomes Filthy Communism when it is legally forced.

I heard something once about Voluntary Association.

I see Rugged Individualism as Self Sufficiency, doing everything you can for yourself. It's a thought process, to look at a problem and say, can I do this, fix this, build this, grow this. Rather than the first thought being I'll go to Amazon and guy one.

Doesn't mean you don't use Amazon or work with the local community it just means doing for yourself as much as is practicle. We've largely lost that in this country, which is the normal course of nations as they become more urbanized.

Being competent and skilled is definitely better than being weak and worthless. But its not really a way to organize a nation or a homeland.

This isn't the first time The American Dream has been under attack by Collectivists. William Bryan Jennings had 3 unsuccessful but close runs, and another presidential contender in the 20th Century (whom I can't recall right now) got close. Even now, we're only talking about 1/3rd of the nation. They need to be repeatedly defeated in elections before the Dem Party comes back to "liberty."

The socialist 1928 Democratic candidate was Al Smith. BTW, there were actual "Socialist" candidates, such as Eugene Debs, running right up until WWII. Socialism isn't new to popularity in America. Anarchy too.
