We are all going to feel stupid if it turns out the Obamaphones really are being used to foment a race war.

If that's true, their next earnings report could be completely fucked since a huge percentage of their users uninstalled that mobile device app.

This is it. I have fucking found the missing piece!!

As Winston Churchill once said, “to improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often." It's a maxim Facebook seems to have adopted wholeheartedly when it comes to the News Feed.

Posts appearing in your news feed today likely look different from the posts you saw six months ago, both in appearance and content. The simple reason for this is Facebook is learning more about you, and that means the company's news feed algorithm is better at determining what you like and what you dislike.

I deleted the app from all my devices. Facebook is becoming pretty irrelevant for many. It's just a place to scroll through ads, now. Fuck that.

I just use it for a couple groups related to dogs and fitness. Other than that, it keeps me in touch with AF mates.

Huge numbers of millennials use it. The millennial females I know have upwards of a thousand or more friends on there. That's in addition to Instagram, Snapchat, or whatever else they use. They seem to integrate them all together.

I don't think Facebook even markets much to our generation.

You aren't the target Kath. Minorities and youths get their news almost exclusively from social media. They also use social media at a higher rate.

How can you not look suspiciously at the fact that around the approximate time Facebook really started to screw with news feeds, this divergence in what had been a decades long trend of improving race relations happens?

I just went into my FB settings yesterday and learned all kinds of shit about myself in the ads section. I deleted almost all of it. I'm done sharing on FB; I'll click like on pictures of my friend's kids and such, but no more sharing of news stories - that shit gets you in a box quickly.

It goes both ways, though. YouTube is overwhelmingly used by Gen X as far as I can tell, and it's pretty far right wing overall no matter what the fuck Google tries to do about that.

These companies try to control the narrative, but if the user base isn't having it, they only fail. I think more than anything what you see on social networks is a product of the userbase. Facebook is overwhelmingly soy boy and feminist. YouTube is red pilled as fuck now.

It's the way of things.
