I would drown the CDC in the bathtub and turn it all over to the Pentagon, since, in the event of a pathogenic emergency, the Pentagon would have to take over anyways, since there's only 15,000 vastly overpaid and operationally useless public sector unionized employees at the CDC, which would just be dead weight in the face of an actual emergency, and thus a complete waste of time and money, and very plausibly counterproductive and dangerously so, as they would be inclined to engage in internecine bureaucratic warfare with DoD instead of actually dealing with the problem in the event of a crisis.MilSpecs wrote:How does it make sense to put a nonmilitary organization under military control? If you're telling me our system is redundant then I will take your word for it, but that would still leave the CDC as the logical organization.Smitty-48 wrote:The US is the only country in the world which wastes money on having two of these organizations to do the same job, every other country in the world picks one or the other, either you have a CDC model, like Health Canada does at Winnipeg, or you have a USAMRIID model, like the British DSTI at Porton Down, but to have two, one of each, is a complete waste of resources.
USAMRIID is one stop shopping, the pathogen response force is all in situ at the Pentagon, CDC is just a liberal Democrat boondoggle entrenched interest, to be used for ideological pet projects such as researching gun violence as a "pathogen", which the Pentagon rightly wouldn't waste a second not a dollar on.
And mental illness is most definitely worthy of research. Number 10 on the CDC 's list of causes of death is suicide. Number 1 is heart disease, and only cancer even comes close. Is the Pentagon researching heart disease?
Step aside liberal Democrat party fat chicks, let the military do its job.
