So what happened to the Houston Aeros? I see now that hockey is indeed far superior for pissing off leftists and it is exclusively White. This is something I can get into. Wow. Sad. The worm turns quick in the NHL these days, the trick is knowing when your window has closed and then moving on as soon as possible, Toews just ain't a 1C anymore, he's an elite 2C on a deep team, but he's not doing any good for Chicago now, with a $10.5 million cap hit.

The cycle is speeding up, in a cap world, teams have to read and react faster, or spiral down for a decade or more.

There is no middle ground, soon as you're not contending anymore, you just have to strip it down and start over, the sooner you do, the sooner you are contending again.

The worm can turn fast in the other direction, but you need those top five picks as a foundation.

NHL GM's are behind the curve of the CBA, they still operate under the old system, when really they should be operating more like the NFL, they should have moved on from Toews after the last Cup, which seems crazy to NHL GM's, but no biggie to NFL GMs, NFL GM's are back to the draft looking for their future QB's on a very fast cycle these days, the NHL GM's have to get with the program.

You can't say don't fall in love with your players, when it's a franchise player, that's not realistic, but I would say; go ahead and fall in love with them, until they are 28, then get ready to move on quick.

It's like the Islanders are about to make a huge mistake, in giving John Tavares a huge contract, at age 28. In this cap world, you can give that contract at 22, but do not give it at 28, if he's not willing to take a haircut to stay, trade him now, move on with Barzal.

They wont likely, but in four years they'll be getting crushed by that contract, he never was the fastest player, by the time he's 32, the game will have passed him, and that $10+ million dollar contract will be their albatross.

You can see it coming from miles away, and yet somehow NHL GM's can't stop themselves, it's somebody elses problem in the future, so who cares, but If I was the owner of the Islanders, I would be all about Barzal and sayonara JT already.
