I've got the thermostat down to 70, to save money on the bill.

Brrrrr.

So then it does nothing to justify the weight, I can build an improvised shelter in situ, and get everything that tent can do, without having to carry it.

If I don't have to be tactical, I can build an improvised shelter like a woods palace, so long as there are woods, ain't no thang.

In the arctic, there ain't no woods, that's why you need the tent.

The purpose of the bivvy bag is tactical, it's a self contained tent so small, that you can bivouac in close proximity to the threat, if there's no tactical threat, you can build high, if you can build high, improvised shelter ftw.

Not to mention there's not much to do in the woods, so working on your improvised shelter passes the time.

By day you don't need the bivvy, you just hang out in your shelter, then at night, you just go to sleep in the bivvy, Bob's your uncle.

The most important things, other than ammo, are fuel, food, smokes, and booze, every ounce of unnecessary weight gets chucked, to make way for Phillip Morris and Johnny Walker.

It's 55 in the house right now. I refuse to turn on the heat - who knows how long it's been since the heat's been on in this house. I hate that new season burning smell coming from the heater. Blech.

So, I'm chilly today.

Ooh, thanks for reminding me, my wife gets home from Boston in a couple hours, I better turn the heat back up, I've been running on fireplace all week, better start warming the house now.

It's a balmy 76 down here, but it's probably 55 upstairs.

I forgot what that was like.

It will be nasty. You might as well turn it on in the morning with some windows open and go to work.

Well, it will be 48 tonight, so we will at least close the windows tonight. We'll see how the temp is in the morning. I will fight turning on the heat until I can't type because my fingers are too cold.

Really appreciating all the quilts my mother-in-law has made for us over the years... it's a 3-cat night (probably 4.)
