I take home 1,900 every two weeks, 1/3 of my paycheck goes to taxes, you do the math... if I had that extra 1/3 of my paycheck I would have been able to pay off my debt, work on my credit, and already have over $20,000 in saved money to put towards a down payment on a house.

So to say that we get our money back from the taxes we give is utter bullshit.
Yeah I agree with you. If I could have all the tax dollars back.....holy hell. I would be able to retire from corporate America by the age of 50. So now I will spend the rest of the day thinking about how the government wastes our money. Thanks for that!

That's not enough for where you live at all, dude. You need to get out of there.
This. You are getting fucked hard, man.

I make the same salary as an IT guy - not director of anything - and my cost of living is a fraction of yours.

Startup company, the money isn't going to come flowing until phase three is complete we are just getting into Phase 2. We either will make it or break it in Three which will be next year. If we make it my income increases by double. Short-term pain, long-term gain.

If the company folds, I have a year+ as a Director with a minimum budget saved the company between $7K to 10K a month is savings and still kept the infrastructure viable and secure with what we had. The Infrastructure branch of the company went from one of the most expensive to the least expensive department in less than 3 months.

I also created new security, and onboarding protocols to streamline employee onboarding and offboarding as well documentation protocols, and backup systems, fail-safes, and many other things to keep the company from losing money hand-over-fist.

I've taken this company and made it not only more secure but guaranteed on passing any national or international security test that may be thrown at it.

All things look good on my resume and will work towards my favor when it comes to looking for a new job in a few years.

Also, remember, I'm not a spring chicken in the IT world, I'm old of the old-timers now.

You should be compensated with call options when the company goes public.

Yeah, but if it hits, you're insta-retired. That's a chance worth taking.

Why does this all feel eerily similar to the Dot Com Bubble...
"Old World Blues.' It refers to those so obsessed with the past they can't see the present, much less the future, for what it is. They stare into the what-was...as the realities of their world continue on around them." -Fallout New Vegas
