http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politic ... ce-n757131Days before he was fired as F.B.I. director, James B. Comey asked the Justice Department for more prosecutors and other personnel to accelerate the bureau’s investigation into Russia’s interference in the presidential election.

The FBI is investigating whether the Trump campaign colluded with a covert Russian operation to interfere with the election, FBI Director James Comey told Congress Monday — and he refuted the president's baseless claim that his predecessor wiretapped his communications.
Comey's confirmation in testimony before the House Intelligence Committee that the Trump campaign was the subject of a U.S. counterintelligence investigation was a revelation that could shadow the Trump presidency.

Highlights from Monday's testimony:
For the first time, Director Comey publicly confirmed the FBI is conducting an investigation into whether the Trump campaign "coordinated" with the Russian effort to influence the U.S. election.

Trump and Tillerson are insanely rich. Billionaires have ties all over the world. It has always been like this. In ancient Greece, all the generals from Athens and Sparta knew each other socially outside of war. I don't know how cool Trump actually is with Putin, but it seems like the Clinton Foundation is equally as guilty of foreign association, if not more so. I believe Russia gave money to the Clinton foundation for instance. My biggest problem with the Russia allegations is that no one has ever explained how Putin threw the election. It feels like scapegoating to me.GrumpyCatFace wrote:Not firmly, no, but there is a fucking plethora of weird-ass ties to Putin throughout the administration. RUSSIA SCANDAL? INSIDE THE OBAMA-CLINTON URANIUM DEAL
Tens of millions of dollars from uranium investors flowed into the Clinton Foundation, and Bill Clinton received a $500,000 speaking fee from a Russian bank tied to the Kremlin before Secretary of State Hillary Clinton helped decide whether to approve the sale to the Russian government of a company that held one-fifth of America’s uranium capacity.
That’s the “deal” that Donald Trump referenced in a tweet Tuesday morning in which he essentially said that if Congress really wants to find evidence of U.S. politicians colluding with the Russians, it should investigate the $145 million in donations the Clintons’ received from uranium investors before Russia’s energy agency Rostatom secured the purchase of Uranium One.

The main thing would be the Wikileaks hack, of course, which may have been Russian intelligence. There's no denying the impact that it had.heydaralon wrote:Trump and Tillerson are insanely rich. Would you rather the DNC been allowed to continue with what they were doing without anyone finding out?GrumpyCatFace wrote:The main thing would be the Wikileaks hack, of course, which may have been Russian intelligence. The reason the emails affected the election is because they made the Democratic Party look terrible. I'm sure that if the RNC had been hacked, they would have looked bad also, but in my opinion, the hacks were a good thing for democracy because they gave voters more info than would normally be available, and allowed them to make a more informed decision.

I think the leaks also showed that Clinton took a play out of Nixon's handbook and pored over everyone in her campaigns emails to make sure they were writing flattering things about her. Of course, Obama was very spy happy too, so she probably learned some of that Nixonian behavior from there.

Hillary Clinton is (hopefully was) the embodiment of the career politician who wellcomes the existing structural corruption of the US political system. Perhaps the fact that her campaign had truly troubles to start with basic things like just what was her cause, why she was running, explains this most clearly. Because for Clinton it's an horse race and nothing to do with actual political ideas or objectives. She doesn't have any other agenda than just to be in power.
The worst thing of Trump being such a disaster that the Democratic Party is NOT going to do the much needed soul searching they ought to do.
Trump's impeachment is a possibility, but not something inescapable. In fact, a capable President could easily avoid impeachment. Yet Trump simply is himself his worst enemy. Basically Trump lacks judgement when any issue touches himself. I think that this whole debacle happened simply because of Trump's ignorance and lack of judgement in the first place.
It seems to me that Trump simply doesn't grasp how crucial the next midterms are to him. Because if the GOP loses it's majority on Capitol Hill, there will be a special prosecutor on the Russia subject. 2018 comes quickly.

clubgop wrote:Not right now. The dems dont want it. Oh there crazy base does but the politicians, no way. They can raise money and don't take any responsibility for governing. The GOP won't vote to impeach their own President and the Dems know if they got control how badly impeachment hurt the GOP in the 90's. They aint got the stomach for it. This just makes them happy and distracts them from their epic failures to win elections or even field decent canididates.
I think this is all true and as of yet they really don't have anything beyond getting Trump. I despise the man, but it's serious business impeaching a President. One should have something besides animus and bs.

There's so much corruption throughout Congress and the White House that fifty years half would have been in prison, impeached, resigned, or retired to "spend more time with their family."GrumpyCatFace wrote:Not firmly, no, but there is a fucking plethora of weird-ass ties to Putin throughout the administration.
