No, no, no, we're living in the dark ages. Those damn kings are keeping it all for themselves.

I went to half-a-dozen dissertation presentations in Antarctica about "Ozone Hole." 4 Doctoral students were claiming it was real & getting worse, and 2 said it was a measurement problem. A few years later, the Ozone Hole was gone! Imagine that - cured by fewer people using deodorant. Wow.

I expect my real estate value to skyrocket, along with a pretty stunning currency and governmental collapse. Fortunately, I live in a rather fertile region, so I can grow my own food. Hopefully the kids outlast the inevitable military state, and can help rebuild the new world.jbird4049 wrote:The old "We're all gonna die, just die in fire, so why worry, just gimme a beer. Oh, and I'm gonna be dead beforehand, so enjoy!" defense?GrumpyCatFace wrote:We already did that. We created absolutely stunning new inputs into the global atmosphere without even realizing it, and still do so.(4) A more reasonable approach is to take the position that we ought not blindly alter the chemical composition of our planet's atmosphere unless we have a very, very high confidence in the outcome. Instead of demanding everybody revert to the middle ages, let's look towards what achievable reductions in artificial effluents pumped into the atmosphere can reasonably be tackled each year. You don't need to make shit up to make this case like the global warming folks do.
There is no solution. There is nothing that any government or group of activists can do to stop the train now, short of a global shutdown of industry. It's not gonna happen. So just ride the train off the cliff, and enjoy it because our kids are fucked hard.
Well, unless you're about 95 and on your deathbed, there's fair chance that you are going to see some excellent previews to the main event.

I don't understand why you are holding up the hole in the Ozone layer as some sort of proof that global warming is a hoax.Martin Hash wrote:I went to half-a-dozen dissertation presentations in Antarctica about "Ozone Hole." 4 Doctoral students were claiming it was real & getting worse, and 2 said it was a measurement problem. If anything it is a rare example of what can happen when unprecedented international action to solve a man made environmental problem occurs. No one is arguing that the ozone hole doesn't exist and banning CFC's has taken 30 years to start reversing the effects of such chemicals. The action taken to solve the ozone problem has proved effective but as GCF said earlier it was a much simpler and cheaper problem to cure than global warming.
As with any dependency such as drugs or alcohol first we have to recognise there is a problem with the burning of fossil fuels and that CO2 levels are causing global warming before a solution can be found. Denying there is a problem or claiming there is no solution is selling future generations down the river so we can continue with our comfortable life styles. Burying our heads in the sand and shouting "it's all a socialist hoax" is such a selfish way to behave that future generations will consider us far worse than any of the dictators of the 20th century.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Don't you get it Monty...
It's the Cultural Marxists that want you to believe in Climate Change...
It's part of the neobolshevic agenda to gain control of the planet.
The scientists have been indoctrinated.... and are serving the grand Commissar.
Fortunately they will make suitable zombie shock troops once this hoax is exposed.

Ah, silly me. I thought it was self interest from big business doing whatever they can to discredit man made global warming in order to continue oiling (excuse the pun) the wheels of industry. Great to know I can continue replacing my car every two years and my smart phone is nearly 6 weeks old now and completely obsolete.DrYouth wrote:Don't you get it Monty...

Re: Climate Denier Hard To Refute
Actually I've had 3 vehicles in the last 22 years and my last truck was 28 years old when I finally gave up on it. I'm hoping to get at least 10 years out of my new truck so that means 3 vehicles in only 32 years, I'm such a hypocrite. Now if manufacturers would stop building in rust traps and continue to sell spares for more than a decade I could make one vehicle last a lifetime but where's the profit motive in that?GrumpyCatFace wrote:Good god, man, you kept a car for 2 years?? Suits me fine, old trucks are much easier to keep on the road. The profit motive can be in keeping me supplied with parts.apeman wrote:Without a profit motive, you ain't driving any trucks made in the last several decades, you are Cuba.Montegriffo wrote: but where's the profit motive in that?
