No offense, but it worked for "some" who had those privileges . How many centuries ago was that Martin Luther King's speech?

The pushback to such is not always the government directly, but to supporters who use lists like these as enemies lists to "deal" with them. They happens regardless of the ideologies, political systems, or economy systems, involved.

In increasing levels of awful, the following started with attacks on, and by, such. The Red Scares of the United States, the various unrests, revolutions, and civil wars in Mexico, Chile, Argentina, El Salvador, Honduras, and Nicaragua, Suharto's Indonesia, Hitler's Germany, the Soviet Union, and Mao's China. If you want truly evil, and insane, one could include the Rwandan Genocide, and Pol Pot's Cambodia.

These all started small with the likes of teachers, lawyers, and priests and went very bad. So, if you are a political science teacher, or student :), some of this will be in you mind, or in class. Even if this list is very silly.

You mean the speech where a black man spoke out against the government in the middle of the nation's capital in front of a couple hundred thousand people? That speech? That fucking monumental example of people being able to speak freely to promote change that miraculously hasn't caused the downfall of the US?

That's the problem isn't? There are always going to jack asses at best, and real evil at worst. Just how do you know? How does one know if they're being prudent, a Chicken Little, or a suicidal fool?

I'm going Godwin here, but in 1933 it was a toss up between the German communist, and Nazi parties because both had thousands of street fighters battling it out before, and during, elections. Hell, the communists shut down Berlin, and disrupted the national government, so the German elites, including the army, threw their support to the Nazis. They figured that it was both the lesser of two evils, and that they would be able to control Hitler. The Weimar Republic's government was functioning and the communists were problematic, and as the leader of that party said, next time it would be their turn. So in went the Nazi party.

That went well.

But in 1933 how could most people realistically know what was going to happen? There were some who had a good idea. Most of them were from the small Socialist Party, not the larger Communist Party (I think. I really don't know about the various parties/movements as well as I should. More books to read!) Of course, many of those either were sent straight to the wall, or to the camps. Perhaps even before the communists for being gadflies.

So know when, and how to act, and accept you, and often your friends along with your families might suffer, or simply be disappeared. How many of us have the knowledge, foresight, courage, and also think it's worth your loved ones lives?

Ok, after that monumental misconstruction of my statement , I will concede that I cannot argue with you. But I am sure that all afro americans agree with you, and you're vast knowledge of what means freedom of speech and freedom of association.

You're so boring.

You don't know what freedom of speech is because you're white.

We've got millions of you here already. Present something novel.

You're being incoherent.

Free speech is bad because MLK and the civil rights movement spoke out against discrimination and it ended up getting him killed. That's just too dangerous. We should have just left things alone.

I'm not too sure on what the two of you are arguing over. I will say that no matter what you say, or believe, somebody is go to find a reason to hate it, and you, and want you dead.

Anyways, it's not the average hater with a gun, that I worry about, it's the government, and its helpful minions.

So because they want to monitor a social media platform that you are already consenting to being monitored on, by the owners and whoever the hell else they choose to sell your personal information to, you're upset now?
