Turns out that flooring your car into a crowd of assholes is illegal. Who knew.
Boom
His car is being attacked. When your car is attacked by a crowd with weapons who are surrounding you car and smashing it up, do you just sit there and not try to drive away?
People acting like this is black and white, seems rather virtue signally to me.

If you get stuck in that situation though, what do you do? Not drive away and let them keep smashing your car while continuing to surround it?
You seem to be awfully judgmental of someone caught in a fubar situation, because you have access to hindsight they didn't have at the time. Unless you got video of him driving around looking to run over rioters, or deliberately driving into riots to confront violent protesters, it seems rather presumptuous to assume that is what happened.

Meh.
I wouldn’t have sentenced him to that.
But he was trying to get mixed up in that.
There’s so much shit, I tend to focus my efforts on those who shit found rather than those who went out looking for shit and found more shit than they could handle.
Mostly, I don’t like people who lie about what happened.

Was he? You have proof of that, or is this just "he wouldn't have been there unless for nefarious reasons" speculation? I don't put much stock in anyone's mind reading abilities, even yours Nick, so IF that's all you got, I'd cut the guy more slack than that, if I were you.
If you got proof he was looking for trouble, that's one thing, assuming he was looking for trouble, simply because trouble found him, that's reaching.

Charlottesville was like Travon Martin-Zimmerman. Both sides are bad actors, both doing stupid shit, neither side represent average folks. But through their dumb assert, they drag us all into the argument.

There are more than just two sides. There are the bad actors on both sides, and then there was a bunch of average folks on both sides who had little or nothing to do with the bad actors. Of course the bad actors get focused on, because they did the crazy shit, but they certainly don't represent the majority of people who attended the protest on either side.
People trying to project the beliefs or actions of the bad actors onto everyone on one or both sides of the debate are clearly missing the point and being partisan hacks.

The lady that got hit by a car?
I'm more outraged over the penalty for the kid. 400 years for one impulsive move, with dubious evidence on his intent. That's a ridiculous sentence. He may very well be guilty, but giving him Manson, Son of Sam punishment is an injustice.
It was about sending a message.

Also, he was more than likely trying to leave after the police started letting antifa run riot. Him not being from the city he was probably using Google maps. Google maps isn't going to tell you how to navigate through a city with spontaneous police and antifa road blocks. Use your fucking head for a change and imagine for a second the amount of duress the guy was in while his car was being attacked, after the rally got btfo'd by police and antifa that was originally sanctioned by the city.
Whole thing was a trap anyway. Honey pot.
And let's not forget the context either. Around that time people were under the impression you could legally plow through BLM blocking an intersection and claim it was self defense. And it should be argued that in some cases it could be. But this was after video of BLM getting trucked in the middle of a highway became popular.
Selective enforcement. Whole thing was a pysop designed to end someone's life and forever give mouth breathing retards another Boogeyman to entertain themesleves with
