They sound nice but they have to almost stop to get around the corners.
Could probably beat their times with an old Mini.

I had a go in an old Innocenti MKII Mini once (as in ''the Italian Job''). Tiny little 1275cc engine could do 70mph in 2nd gear. They stick like shit to a shovel around the twisty bits. Great fun to drive, you're so low to the ground it feels like a go-kart.
Excellent for handbrake turns.

Yeah I bought a Miata when someone sold me at the track giving me a test ride and pinning me to the door around the curves in second gear
Had to look that up. They're called MX5 over here. That's what my sister drives. She made me drive halfway across the country to look at a convertable Beatle she was interested in and by the time we got back I'd persuaded her that the MX5 was the car to buy. She's on her 2nd now.

They make great track cars but they are effite. I gave it up when I blew the water pump I didn't feel comfortable in it.
Well, virtually all convertibles are girls cars. Roadsters are the exceptions.

Dunno. What exactly is a roadster? You Brits keep imposing on us weird terms like coupe and sedan but most of us don't really know the difference. At least I am unsure of the difference at times. I think I got coup down maybe. We just use terms like 2door and v8.

A roadster is a small 2 seater sports car, often with a small engine but lightweight and with good handling.
Anything from an E-type Jag to an MG Midget.
Dad had a 1000cc Midget in Singapore which he used for auto-tests (short tight courses made up with cones) lots of handbrake turns, slaloms etc.
