I would characterize the type of people being discussed as 8-9 figure millionaires... Many people who successfully save for retirement are millionaires, in the literal sense.GrumpyCatFace wrote:I admire your faith in the system. I agree that I don't like everything I see from him, but I also leave room to accept that it worked, and that he might know that.GrumpyCatFace wrote:His rhetoric is grade-school level, he's clearly unaware of global politics, and publicly responds to every internet/Twitter provocation. These are the actions of an imbecile, not a genius.
He's a politician now, and his performance in this field, that he wasn't experienced in, shows that he might be smart enough to do it well. I leave open the possibility that he was smart enough to figure out how to behave to win.
Simply put, politics is an act, and he did well. Maybe he was able to be real and win, or maybe he was smart enough to play the part and win.

I'm talking about business owners, capitalists, florida people. Not the hardworking salt-of-the-earth type that save pennies. Those are MUCH different people.adwinistrator wrote:I would characterize the type of people being discussed as 8-9 figure millionaires... I agree that he won. But that's finished now. And he hasn't changed. He's still rambling about whatever pops into his head at official events, and still doesn't have a coherent message, other than "winning" at... something.Okeefenokee wrote:I agree that I don't like everything I see from him, but I also leave room to accept that it worked, and that he might know that.GrumpyCatFace wrote:His rhetoric is grade-school level, he's clearly unaware of global politics, and publicly responds to every internet/Twitter provocation. His inauguration speech was very different. He was throwing punches, but it was more controlled. You could even see him fighting against the habits he acquired during the election.GrumpyCatFace wrote:I agree that he won. But that's finished now. And he hasn't changed. Trump is a salesman first and last, he's tailoring the pitch to the customer, the Goobers want an Anti-Obama, Trump is giving them what they want FTW. Back in the day, Trump the Manhattan real estate baron could act the sophisticate at the drop of a hat, he can play it anyway you want to play it, depending on who he is pitching to.
If he thought surrounding himself with a bunch of intellectuals and having the briefings in hand was what was going to close the deal, that's what he would do, but since the opposite was what was going to close the deal, he went that way instead.

I didn't see that at all... Other than the fact that it was the first time he used a script.Okeefenokee wrote:His inauguration speech was very different. He was throwing punches, but it was more controlled. You could even see him fighting against the habits he acquired during the election.
At the inaugural balls that night, and the CIA today, he was right back to old form. I'm actually grateful that he didn't bray his catchline at the CIA troops.

Trump stole the headlines tonight by looking inconsiderate to the CIA and fighting the media over a tweet that got RT by National Park Service.
“I've got a phone that allows me to convene Americans from every walk of life, nonprofits, businesses, the private sector, universities to try to bring more and more Americans together around what I think is a unifying theme..." - Obama

The people who tend to accumulate the most resources amongst their peers in a stable economic system tend to have higher than average IQs.
Not all high-IQ individuals build large amounts of wealth and success, but most of the individuals who do build large amounts of wealth and success are high IQ. That kind of high-stakes business is an intellectual contest.

It's possible to be a big dummy and inherit a lot of wealth (i.e George W. Bush), but the ability to generate new wealth consistently is tied to IQ. This has been the case for as long as civilization has been around.
