Won't happen at the college level, because those kids are already living a monastic life, just to keep their spot on the team. Definitely not happening at the high-school/youth level, because they're kids, and they don't care about politics.kybkh wrote:Be sure to pace yourself fellas, long season ahead of us. Right, cause parents never push their political agenda on to their children.GrumpyCatFace wrote:Won't happen at the college level, because those kids are already living a monastic life, just to keep their spot on the team. And it shouldn't be happening at the Professional Level either if anything stop fucking kneeling and donate time and money to helping those in need. Do good instead of instigating... cripes, didn't people learn that in kindergarten? Point. There might be an incident somewhere in Cali, but it's not going to spread.kybkh wrote:Right, cause parents never push their political agenda on to their children.GrumpyCatFace wrote:Won't happen at the college level, because those kids are already living a monastic life, just to keep their spot on the team. My kid's football team has one black kid, and his dad's a coach. Not happening here

College athletes are all taken care of by boosters, so anything to kill booster funding would be strictly verboten. Piss off a big enough booster and the school will scream.GrumpyCatFace wrote:Won't happen at the college level, because those kids are already living a monastic life, just to keep their spot on the team. just from scanning that first page, looks like everyone that has taken a knee is north of the Mason-Dixon line. The one story of someone in the South...
CYPRESS, Texas - Leon O'Neal, 18, announced Monday he plans to stand “in unity” with his team during the national anthem Saturday after originally tweeting he would kneel in protest.
The star Cypress Springs High School safety tweeted Monday, saying after talking with his family and school advisors, he has chosen to stand during the anthem.

He's not protesting as far as I can tell. Notice that during this whole buildup from the preseason to this weekend we haven't heard anything from the guy who started this whole thing? The Conservative wrote:So remind me again, what is the reason why Kapercrap is actually protesting?
There are so many f-ups by so many people on this thing.
Today Villanueva is out apologizing for making his team look bad. WTF? The story today is that others on the team were supposed to join in behind him, but instead stayed hidden in the tunnel. They story is they couldn't get out of the tunnel. Really? what was stopping a 6'4" 250 pound man from existing? They all had no problem running out seconds after the anthem finished. Tomlin says they wanted to stay out of the drama, but their actions got them square in the middle of it. Had they gone out and stood like every other week they would not have been a story.
I'm not sure what to think of the Cowboys act. Players, coaches and ownership all took a knee prior to the anthem, then stood with arms locked during it. Some fans booed. My initial reaction is to throw them in with everyone else who didn't stand with hands to their side or a hand on heart. Anything else is showing some level of disrespect to me.
Kaep has gone silent while all this happens. People (like Villenueva) are saying they didn't agree with his methods but say he wasn't against the military, just injustice. He originally say out the anthem because of police brutality and.....IDK what else, injustice in general. I say he was being disrespectful to both military and police and that's how he meant it. Guy wore socks with pigs dressed as police to practice. Don't try and cover for him. You know why he's silent, because he wants his multi-million dollar job back.
Now this has gone from anti-police to anti-Trump because Trump can't let anything not be about him. I don't care which of reasons it is, the players picked a poor method to deliver their message. You can say what you're doing isn't disrespecting military, but those actions are. Pick another way to stand up or against something. The only way you should be doing it during the anthem is if you are specifically protesting the country and those who protect it.
And choosing to kneel? Yeah, let's show that we're standing up to Trump.....by kneeling!

Yeah, WTF Villanueva ? Did he buckle because Tomlin was pissed. Why wasn't Tomlin pissed prior to this when players weren't showing team unity?
The Cowboys are trying to have it both ways. The league and the teams know they are wrong. They are trying to figure out how to appease people and keep there revenues up. It's not about doing what's right, it's about money.
