When Thatcher sent the police in to break up the ''peace convoy'' in '85 at the Battle of the Beanfield they smashed every window on every bus because they knew it would be so expensive to replace them. It was how they got so many ''new age travellers'' off the road. Many people thought they were actually soldiers dressed as the police, they had no numbers on their uniforms.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

The only time I ever went to school on a bus was when we lived in Germany and got a lift on what everyone called the boneshakers. Even in the mid 70's these buses were ancient. Old Army vehicles painted in olive drab. We hated them and envied the swanky modern buses that the German kids went to school on.
They look kinda cool nowadays and I wouldn't say no to one.

When people convert buses in to campers what do they do with all the windows?
Leave them in but panel over them on the inside. Too many windows makes them too hot in the summer and you get shit loads of condensation in the winter. The old buses are better because they have windows you can open.
You don't see so many travellers in them anymore because the law changed in '97 which meant you could only drive up to 3.5 tonnes on a car license. I passed in about '85 so I have what they call a ''grandad's'' license which lets me drive up to 7.5 tonnes (roughly 16,500lbs).
If it's over 26001 lbs you need a class B CDL for buses here. If it's designed to transport 16 or more including the driver and it's under that you need a class C CDL/CLP but you will need to have P endorsement if you carry any passengers. I'm unsure if you need an S endorsement for school buses if they are no longer licensed by a school. Also, you should be able to get a CDL/CLP without an endorsement if you plan on having no passengers you would just have a P restriction. Might be better for insurance purposes. Not sure on the legality of having a few people along for the ride with a P restriction though.

Now that I think of it the CDL might be only for commercial use idk.

The fascist state wielding its power.
So many laws were broken that 20 years later many of the victims received compensation.

Saintly Sir John who passed the Criminal Justice & Public Order Act

Key measures of the act that received public attention would include:

Part III, sections 34–39 which substantially changed the right to silence of an accused person, allowing for inferences to be drawn from their silence.

Part IV, sections 54–59 which gave the police greater rights to take and retain intimate body samples.

Part IV, section 60 which increased police powers of unsupervised stop and search.

The whole of Part V covered collective trespass and nuisance on land and included sections against raves and further sections against disruptive trespass, squatters, and unauthorised campers – most significantly the criminalisation of previously civil offences. This affected many forms of protest including hunt sabotage and anti-road protests. Sections 63–67 in particular defined any gathering of 20 or more people where:

63(1)(b) "music" includes sounds wholly or predominantly characterised by the emission of a succession of repetitive beats.

Part V, section 80 which repealed the duty imposed on councils by the Caravan Sites Act 1968 to provide sites for gypsy and traveller use. Grant aid for the provision of sites was also withdrawn.
