I'm very curious to see how this all shakes out. As far as I know, this is a first in American politics(opposition candidate dropping out and joining another).

Does this signal other notable Dems they can do the same, take fear away from anonymous MAGA folks, etc.

Friday I went dancing at a local club. Tommy 2Tone ("867-5309" hit song from back-in-the-day) was at the next table and saw I was sitting with the chair of the Clark County Republican party. He wanted to fight me in a crowded bar over MAGA, so it's still a thing.

A couple of things here.
1. Trump has added RFK and Tulsi. Each bring support from different areas, an all of it non-traditional GOP areas.

2. Trump is embracing new media. Twitter interview, social media, podcasts. Only Boomers are still locked into the MSM in high percentages. Gen X and younger get the majority of their information from new media. Trump is getting exposure, Harris is hiding.

3. Trump has strong surrogates spreading out and supporting him. Tulsi, RFK and JD Vance. All people that wanted a big platform and now have it. Trump has signalled it's real power, as he's added all of them to his transition team.

Recent historical data on polling.

At this point in 2016 Hillary was up by 4 pts and lost
At this point in 2020 Biden was up by 8 pts and won
Harris was ahead by about 3 points before Trump swung it back. I think we'll see a bunch more gyrations in the polling. Harris popularity is strictly related to money dumped into the campaign. They will dump more money.

However. Trump saturating coverage on new media will force Harris to do public events, and she'll fuck it up. I'd note that Biden was like amongst the D's. He made a lot of allies and patrons over 40 years of grifting. Harris does not have that, in fact, she's disliked amongst D's. She's a desperation candidate. It may sink them.

Perversity is in the majority. Perversity comes from resentment & nihilism which come from pessimism. Trump is optimistic and has dampened the perversity enough to win, but cheating will still be a huge risk; not to mention assassination.
