Sorry, man. I know, "ain't so far away," can mean a lot of things, but I feel pretty confident that we aren't close to it at all. Remote controlled machines and AI are not the same thing. AI soldiers is something a long long ways away. AI burger flippers is something a long long way away.
It’s only along ways because of collateral risk.
No planes to jets with nukes in 50 years.
Less than 2 years into a Great War and our current war tech looks like wooden boats.
It's nonsense. Completely dependent on modern infrastructure. Internet goes down and AI bots stop in their tracks. EMP goes off and all electronics stop working. An electric robot that needs a communication grid to function can be taken out of the fight in one second.
No modern state is going to decline to obliterate the fragile systems robots need if it means victory or defeat. Humanity didn't exist for thousands of years to submit to conquest by machines that need the systems we made. We'd knock that shit offline the second it looked like we might lose.
Imagine if Spartacus was a robot, and Rome controlled the satellites his army used to communicate. Conventional weapons decades ago were able to counter that.
This is sci fi.

Nah.
There are ways around emp if you don’t care about collateral damage and human control.
How many people have lost in the Middle East? 10,000 in 10 years?
People died testing aircraft daily. If lose of life was acceptable in robotics testing...
We start losing thousands a day, the systems in places that are holding back wreckless innovation will get out of the way real fast.
Wreckless destruction.
Hard to see the other side of that.

Sounds like a world for ruthless rich people with multiple Doctorates. You go ahead and grow vegetables around the house, I’ll have somebody come by to collect the tax.

When the ex-soldiers start running around saying only they can vote because they’re special, I’ll have more than enough recruits to execute my plan.

Hey, send me a Million $$$ and I'll be on retainer for the future Doomsday Crash. I'll run right over to your kingdom to collect your taxes. I live in awe of you, I will be forever loyal to you. But I do need to stock up on Arms and Ammo, get me a HRS (Hash Revenue Service) windbreaker, you know all the necessities.

Actually, a $million probably won’t be worth much. Would you consider a full clip for your AR-15?

See, I need to stock up now and recruit for you. So, you'll need to front me the money. Let me know when you need a routing number for the deposit.
