I mean, Trump wishes in his wildest dreams that democrat voters would get up and leave so the US could be a one-party state.

My opinion is that if you have a shitty system like here or there which only gives you a choice between left or right then the best thing is for power to swap back and forth between them fairly regularly so that the looniest policies can be mitigated each time there is a change in government.
