Can someone succinctly explain why Boomers are loathed so much by Gen Xers and/or Millenials? I keep seeing general accusations about them being selfish, and taking everything. I sort of get it, but not to the point that it's all on the Boomers. Every generation has takers.

I had boomer parents, and yes they got a nice pension for working at the same company for 40+ years. They didn't spend it all on themselves, they saved most of it so that their children and grandchildren could have a better life then they did. What is so wrong with that?

Also, who gave the Boomers all the advantages like the sweet pensions? It was the GG that was in charge when all of these deals were made.
I can be explain as scape goating.

My mother is a Boomer and she is impovrished, I write checks to keep her afloat, she's going to have to come live with us because she can't afford to live on her own anymore.

Indeed, I don't begrudge it at all, she's the one who doesn't want to live with us.

I hope I can do the same when my parents need help. Hopefully they die at home and not in a hospice or hospital.

Boomers are victims of a cardle to grave pysop and of an age where their mind is made up and can't be changed.

Well like I say, right now I'm paying her rent, but I don't like paying rent, I paid a lot for this house, so I'd rather put that to work than pay some landlord, but she's stubborn, so I'm just letting her come to her own conclusions right now.

My father wasn't actually a Boomer, he was born before the Boom, he was a Beatnik not a Hippie.

My grandfather, who became an American after fighting in the Second World War, he was probably the best off, he had what people say the Boomers had but didn't really have. The job for life with one company, everything paid for to the grave, nice house on the hill, swimming pool, two cars, the whole shebang, and no worries, was never going to get fired nor laid off.

What the Boomers actually got, was Vietnam, then the inflation crisis of the 1970's, then the hard restructure of the 1980's, Boomers didn't really get much of a payoff until the late 90's.
