As I understand it, one of the main problems with the original order was that it didn't really discriminate between people with valid green cards and visas, and people without them. So, in that light, I guess I can see how this relates to immigration... but not in Trump's favor.GrumpyCatFace wrote:It's more effective to just hand-wave and declare Absolute Truths, than try to parse these little details, like the difference between "Immigration" and "Border Control", or "Random Arab" and "Terrorist". It's all too complicated for any human being to wrap their minds around and debate individually.Hanarchy Montanarchy wrote:I still have no idea what any of this has to do with legal or illegal immigration and the difference between them.
While I am thinking about it, I will also add that I expect the revised order to pass the court challenges it faces as is, or with minor adjustments, and that would be a great example of democracy functioning properly.
I am not a fan of legislation by executive order... it pissed me off when Obama was doing it, and it pisses me off when Trump does it; but if it is going to happen, this is how it should work. People exercising their right to assemble and protest an order they think is unjust, and then the courts putting said order under scrutiny to see if it is valid. Everyone doing exactly what they are supposed to do in a pluralist society.
America rules.
