Re: THE ERA OF TRUMP
Fucking MSNBC was calling his speech "dark"
I think today is the best day in America since McKinley was assassinated (and you know why I think that was great, its not because he was killed)

Fuck Obama; you had your chance, Barry, but you went Herbert Hoover 2.0, hence; step aside. Next man, stand up, hook up, shuffle to the door.kybkh wrote:Overall, I didn't like the speech. Kinda took a dump right on Barry's lawn with his kids watching.kybkh wrote:DARK

That's why I didn't say that what Trump was saying was Marxist.Smitty-48 wrote:Nothing Trump said is Marxist, there's no dialectic between the proletariat and capitalism therein, what Trump is invoking is not Marxism, but rather Nationalism, practically the antithesis of Marxism in fact. America First; is hardly Marxism, I mean, get real.adwinistrator wrote:Quite the speech!
Lots of populist vibes. Quite the anti-establishment, and anti-capitalist themes for the first half. Makes me wonder how all the Trump supporters who decry the left, liberals, and Marx feel about a Republican saying...
Now, as a foreigner, you might think that I would have qualms about Trump saying "America First", but in fact, as a Loyalist British North American, I do not, as when America prospers, we shall prosper as well, does us no favours, for America to not take care of itself, by all means, take care of America first, and the rest will take care of itself, I'm happy to take my dividends in US dollars, no problemo, let freedom ring.
I was asking the opinions of the people here that decry the left, liberals, and Marx.
I'm curious on their thoughts when Trump is speaking about economic populism. When Trump is saying that he will stop our wealth from going to industries overseas, and keep it here for the workers. In the world of multinational corporations, a message like that is anti-capitalist, and pro-labor economic populism.
I'm not commenting on the nationalistic "America first" part of the speech, because what a traditional inauguration speech sounds like (although Trump has his own style). American exceptionalism, USA, USA, we're #1, is expected.

Did he say anything beyond what he's already said during campaign rallies? I was hoping for a little more, I don't know, humility or wisdom, this was no "ask not what your country can do for you" speech.
But he trashed the DC elite pretty hard so I can't totally hate it

Re: THE ERA OF TRUMP
I don't think that's the case, there's nothing anti-capitalist per se about economic populism, particularly when delivered by an avowed capitalist talking about the most capitalist country in the world, and I don't actually believe that the Multinationals oppose Donald Trump, in fact, they all seem to be rallying to him and getting in line. Mulitnationals will play the cards which are dealt, if Trump incentivizes them to do more business in the US, they'll go where the incentives are, just like the rest of us investors will.adwinistrator wrote:I'm curious on their thoughts when Trump is speaking about economic populism. Not much risk of solving all their problems...Smitty-48 wrote:They don't even need to solve all their problems, they just need to get the economy going, get some heat back into that economy, and the rest will take care of itself, other than the liberals screaming Nuclear Hitler the whole time that is, but just ignore those idiots.
Just solve more problems than you create and you are solid.

"Protesters" throwing rocks and bottles at cops in DC, trying to fuck with Trump's inauguration parade route. The counter-productivity of Trump haters is truly staggering.

His Populist message mirrors so much what Bernie was saying too. They are just idiots.StCapps wrote:Protestors throwing rocks and bottles at cops in DC, trying to fuck with Trump's inauguration parade route. The counter-productivity of Trump haters is truly staggering.
A lot of them are probably anarchists who won't be happy about anything.
They have their right to protest, but fuck them anyway

Also, what was up with the soldiers moving behind the people at the podium, then leaving, then coming back?
