Not just yet. When a local can't provide a service like that it reverts to the county. Hennepin county would take responsibility and where is the county seat? Minneapolis. City council is simply throwing their hands in the air and handing this whole mess to county. Cars will get repainted, uniforms changed but not much else. This is virtue signaling writ large.

Well I admit that didn't occur to me. More centralization would be interesting to watch. The Sheriffs tend to be much more strict than city cops.
