The verdict is in, and WaPo has all the talking points you'll need for your FB or Twitter feed.

The thing that bugs me is how these people -- the group who invented the phrase "fake news" -- are the most prolific promulgators of fake news out there. This was deliberately faked propaganda meant to socially destroy a person. How fucked up do you have to be to pass this along and then laugh it off when people point out to you what you just did?
I think that prosperity gospel crap is total garbage and anti-Christian to the core. But I will attack the man on his stated beliefs and ideas. Making up lies to ruin him like that is ridiculous.

2 highlights from WaPo, that bastion of journalism:DBTrek wrote:WaPo says "NOT SO FAST!"
- a tweet slamming Osteen from someone tastefully named "Give Him the Finger", who I assume is a reasonable person to go to for rational discourse
-these lines which simply cannot be reconciled by anyone with a functioning brain:
Osteen’s 38,000-member Lakewood Church
Osteen was already a subject of contempt among Americans, in general.
So what is it about America’s grinning preacher that everyone hates so much?
i.e. he is so reviled that his church has more members than the city I live in, and I like him too.I have come to the stunning conclusion that Joel Osteen seems to be a pretty nice guy
To look at the persuasion embedded in here, starting with the title and the loaded hypotheticals, and proceeding to qualify it with I ACTUALLY STUDY HIM AND LIKE HIM, but certain criticism exist, is designed to have the reader take away that the guy is a fraud

The only thing these dingbats will accomplish is raising his profile and getting him more business.

In all fairness, like I said, I suspect he is a probably a fraud but wouldn't say it in public because I dont know, but regardless of the actual level of flooding, there is sooooo much more to consider.
Taking in 16000+ people is a really big deal, from food, to med care to water to security, especially when you have no guarantee that your structure won't flood.
None of us have any idea what that entails whatsoever, I can't imagine hosting 100 people never mind 16000, but apparently we can judge from afar without any hesitation.
The article:
So the structure had no food, kitchen nor staff, but what a dick he is for not hosting 16000 folks. (if true, or course)A Lakewood Church spokesperson told ABC News Tuesday its doors have always been open and the church is waiting for city officials to designate it as a shelter so it can obtain cots and other assistance. (The spokesperson said the church doesn't have showers or a kitchen.)
At first it was difficult for church staff to get to the facility from their homes, the spokesperson explained.
Moreover, the facility did not initially shelter people because it would be too dangerous to have people on a lower level, which could flood, the spokesperson added. Now that the floodwaters have receded, the church decided to bring in evacuees, the spokesperson said.
"The mayor was asking people not to get on the roadways, plus this building was very close to flooding. It was within a foot of coming over our flood gates," Osteen told ABC affiliate KVUE on Tuesday night. "But also, our staff and building engineers and people, nobody was here. You know, it's not like we can ask them to come out. But you know the fact is we're here to help people. The notion that we would turn people away is totally not who Lakewood has been for the last 60 years and it's not who it is now and that's why we're seeing this."

Fire ants are able to bond together and form floating "rafts" in the flood waters in Texas.
^^^ that shit right there is something from nightmares.
Also, the flood waters also have snakes and gators. Plus, chemicals that came from flooded chem pants in the area.
Clean up is going to be a bitch for those people down in Texas and I hope they get a large federal funding to help them.
