Fading into?

I mean Confederation.

"Canada" simply means Confederation.

To wit, Confederation is a burden on the throats of Canadians, not a boon.

By the Treaty of Paris 1763 which is the only legal underpinning, this territory is actually British North America.

"Canada" is simply an agreement called Confederation therein.

I'd suggest "voluntarily associating yourself" with more than just government and companies.
Smitty is voluntarily associating himself with the freedom happy peoples of Nevada... while residing in Canada... and protecting himself from as many unwanted associations as possible while doing so...

I was thinking more about the relevancy. I mean, the last couple of times we’ve gone out raiding you guys stayed home. So if we’re measuring relevancy by impact on the world stage I’d say y’all have chosen irrelevancy. Which is fine. But Canada has never struck me as a place that strives to be particularly relevant.

Not like Iran. Those guys are HUNGRY to be relevant, and it kills them to be just another broke ass ME nation.

I was referring to domestic politics, I don't think much about Iran at all. Iran is not my problem, I'm not a Jew.

As I've said, there's only one military to the continent.

Theater thermonuclear war lateral escalation vortex.

But that is out of my control, so it's not relevant day to day.

Iran isn’t anyone’s problem, but they’d like to be.
Israel would turn it into a parking lot.

Again, it's not really relevant to the CONUS, let them fight, who cares?

It's really only the Russians who can kill you, Iran is no threat to America.

Russia is the only existential threat, even the Chinese are not there yet.

You will need upwards of a couple thousand warheads, concealed and dispersed, on hair trigger alert, to overwhelm an American counterforce.

As of now, only the Russians can do it.

And what I'm suggesting is that even in relation to that goal, there is such a thing as being too individualistic. Weaken society too much, make it too irrelevant, and distance yourself too much from it and you're left with no allies to stand up to government overreach, or if it comes to the worst, government tyranny. If I'm not mistaken, the "there is no such thing as society", comes from a misunderstanding of an old Margeret Thatcher quote. One where she's credited as saying as there is no such thing.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/comment/col ... meant.html

I'm not British and wasn't an adult when "society" was commonly associated with what the author says, but when I was a kid and teen in 90's, the "X is society's fault" had been heard so often, it had become the focus of popular ridicule and satire. The idea that some 1960's/70's and/or 80's leftists get to forever own the word society should be seen as absurd.
