Americans should no longer expect that their private conversations will remain private, the head of the FBI said on Wednesday.

FBI Director James Comey told a conference on cybersecurity that there is no longer any such thing as 'absolute privacy' in the era of WikiLeaks, social media, and hyper-interconnection, according to CNN.

Well Shit, the FBI declared the 4th Amendment completely dead.................................. Thanks................. for the honesty...... I guess.

Just for just for, I asked a classmate of mine (white guy, father, retired archaeologist and voted for Clinton) last night if he read the newest wikileaks dump. His response was, "Isn't the timing suspicious, how this all benefits Trump right after the Trump Tower wiretapping accusations?"

I asked in response "I'm not really concerned about the timing or who benefits, the information is the deal. Did you read the information in the documents?"

"Yes, it all very suspicious how this benefits Trump"

And we went in that circle for few minutes before I told him he was making excuses. Then he kinda got quiet and said, "It doesn't bother me, I don't use smart devices."

Just to clarify, I stole that from De.O's earlier post... I feel oddly compelled to make sure I don't get credit for someone else's research.

Also, wouldn't it be great if there was a powerful pro 4th lobby working diligently to protect against further attacks on those rights... and I'll use this opportunity to take a hard left and suggest, again, that there are things that have value that aren't profitable, that may only be able to survive on a public subsidy.

If we get more of what we subsidize, let's subsidize the bill o' rights everybody.

Yes, we really, really need an NRA style 4th Amendment Group. Someone out there please step up and get the ball rolling. I think there is going to be a huge opportunity here for something like this. People need to be pissed off about this. Hopefully Dan will do something about it on CS. As much shit as I have given over different issues, he's always been solidly good on this issue.

This is why I am losing faith in democracy, this guy should be smart enough to handle this minimum amount of nuance, and he simply isn't.
